Out of the many non-damaging moves out there, Taunt stands out due to its ability to force their opponents to choose any of their attack moves, absolutely refusing to go on the defensive despite their trainers commands. In a game where sometimes the best move is a defensive one, taking that option away from them shows that you are being strategic in Pokemon battles.
