A list of the best Utah Jazz of all time. Originally based in New Orleans, the Jazz moved to Utah in 1979, which explains its confusing team name. When the team was in New Orleans, players like Gail Goodrich and Pete Maravich were standout players for the Jazz in its early years. Upon the move to Utah, the Jazz have been a model of stability. Within 10 years of playing in Salt Lake City, the Jazz had two of the <a href="http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-top-nba-players-of-all-time">best players in NBA history</a> on its roster in Karl Malone and John Stockton. As these two Hall of Famers matured, the Jazz became one of the best teams in the NBA. Malone and Stockton went to numerous All Star Games and are one of the most celebrated duos of all time. While Malone and Stockton led the team, there were various other standout players who played supporting roles. Mark Eaton, Jeff Hornacek and Jeff Malone are among the best players in Jazz history to have been with the team during its glory years. The team made the NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998, but fell short against Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls. More recently, some of the best players in Jazz history have been its big men. John Stockton

John Houston Stockton (born March 26, 1962) is an American retired professional basketball player. He spent his entire NBA career (1984–2003) as a point guard for the Utah Jazz, and the team made the playoffs in each of his 19 seasons. In 1997 and 1998, together with his longtime teammate Karl Malone, Stockton led the Jazz to the franchise's only two NBA Finals appearances. Stockton is a ten-time NBA All-Star and a two-time Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee (in 2009 for his individual career, and in 2010 as a member of the 1992 United States men's Olympic basketball team "Dream Team"). In 1996, he was named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history. Stockton holds the NBA records for most career assists and steals by wide margins and is regarded as one of the greatest point guards of all time.

Deron Williams

Deron Michael Williams ( DERR-ən; born June 26, 1984) is an American professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Illinois Fighting Illini before being drafted third overall in the 2005 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz. The three-time NBA All-Star has also played for Beşiktaş of the Turkish Basketball League during the 2011 NBA lockout, and was a gold medal winner on the United States national team at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.

Jeff Hornacek

Jeffrey John Hornacek (; born May 3, 1963) is an American professional basketball coach and former player. He most recently served as the head coach of the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played shooting guard in the NBA from 1986 through 2000.

Mike Conley, Jr.

Michael Alex Conley Jr. (born October 11, 1987) is an American professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was a member of the Memphis Grizzlies since the team drafted him with the fourth overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft before being traded in 2019 to the Utah Jazz. Conley is the son of Mike Conley Sr., an Olympic gold and silver medalist in track and field. He is the Grizzlies' all-time leading scorer.

Ricky Rubio

Ricard Rubio i Vives (born October 21, 1990) is a Spanish professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Rubio became the youngest player ever to play in the Spanish ACB League on October 15, 2005, at age 14.  He made his EuroLeague debut on October 24, 2006, at age 16, becoming the first player born in the 1990s to play in a EuroLeague game. He is the fifth-youngest player to make their debut in the EuroLeague, since the year 2000. On June 25, 2009, he was drafted with the fifth pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA draft by the Timberwolves, making him the first player born in the 1990s to be drafted by the NBA. The Timberwolves had an agreement in principle with his former Spanish team, DKV Joventut, to buy out his contract, but Rubio backed out of the deal. On August 31, 2009, Joventut traded the rights to Rubio to FC Barcelona, and Rubio signed a six-year contract with FC Barcelona the following day. In 2011, Rubio joined the Minnesota Timberwolves, and spent six seasons in Minnesota before being traded to the Jazz in June 2017.

Rickey Green

Rickey Green (born August 18, 1954) is an American retired professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). 
Green, a 6'0" (1.83 m) and 170 lb (77 kg) point guard, led Chicago's Hirsch High School to the 1973 IHSA Class AA State championship. He then played college basketball at Vincennes University and the University of Michigan; at the latter school, his team lost to the undefeated Big Ten Conference rival Indiana Hoosiers in the championship game of the 1976 NCAA Tournament.
Green was selected with the 16th pick in the 1977 NBA Draft, and competed in 14 seasons, playing for the Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons, Utah Jazz, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Boston Celtics.
His highlight season was in 1982-83 with the Utah Jazz, when he averaged 14.3 points, 8.9 assists and 2.82 steals per game, and represented them the following year in the 1984 NBA All-Star Game. He retired in 1992 with NBA career totals of 8,870 points and 5,221 assists in 946 games.
In 1982, as a member of the Jazz, Green scored the five millionth point in NBA history.

George Hill

George Jesse Hill Jr. (born May 4, 1986) is an American professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). While playing for Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) he received many honors, including Summit League Player of the Year and was an honorable mention All-American his junior season. He was selected 26th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2008 NBA draft.

Mo Williams

Maurice Williams (born December 19, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player who played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). After a successful high school career at Murrah High School, Williams attended college at the University of Alabama, where he led his team as a freshman to a 27–8 record, and also shared an SEC regular-season championship. After two seasons at Alabama, Williams entered the 2003 NBA draft where he was selected with the 47th overall pick by the Utah Jazz. Throughout his career, he has also played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers. In 2009, Williams was selected as an NBA All-Star. In 2016, he won his first NBA championship with the Cavaliers. In May 2018, he became an assistant coach for the Cal State Northridge Matadors men's basketball team.

Gail Goodrich

Gail Charles Goodrich Jr. (born April 23, 1943) is an American retired professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is best known for scoring a then record 42 points for UCLA in the 1965 NCAA championship game vs. Michigan, and his part in the Los Angeles Lakers' 1971–72 season. During that season the team won a still-record 33 consecutive games, posted what was at the time the best regular season record in NBA history, and also won the franchise's first NBA championship since relocating to Los Angeles. Goodrich was the leading scorer on that team. He is also acclaimed for leading UCLA to its first two national championships under the legendary coach John Wooden, the first in 1963–64 being a perfect 30-0 season when he played with teammate Walt Hazzard. In 1996, 17 years after his retirement from professional basketball, Goodrich was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Howard Eisley

Howard Jonathan Eisley (born December 4, 1972) is an American retired professional basketball player and coach. Born in Detroit, Eisley played college basketball at Boston College and was drafted in 1994 by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Eisley spent twelve seasons in the NBA, six with the Utah Jazz (1995–2000, 2004–2005) and the other six with seven other teams.

Derek Fisher

Derek Lamar Fisher (born August 9, 1974) is an American basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Fisher played professionally in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 18 seasons, spending the majority of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom he won five NBA championships. He also played for the Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Dallas Mavericks. He has also served as president of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).
Fisher played college basketball for the Arkansas–Little Rock Trojans, earning the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year in 1996. Selected by the Lakers with the 24th pick in the 1996 NBA draft, he spent his first eight seasons with the franchise, winning three consecutive league championships (2000–2002) with teammates Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal and coach Phil Jackson. After the 2003–04 NBA season, he signed as a free agent with the Golden State Warriors, later being traded to the Utah Jazz, whom he helped lead to the Western Conference finals. Due to his daughter's health, he asked to be released from his contract in 2007. He rejoined the Lakers and won two more NBA titles with Bryant and Jackson.
In 2012, he was traded to the Houston Rockets, where he bought out his contract and was waived at his request. He then joined the Oklahoma City Thunder for the remainder of the season, playing for the 2012 NBA championship in his eighth Finals appearance.  After signing with the 2012–13 Dallas Mavericks he played only nine games before being injured and asking to be released from his contract. He later rejoined the Oklahoma City Thunder for another late season push. He re-signed with them in the off-season and played in a team-high 81 regular-season games for the team in 2013–14. The following season, he was hired as the head coach of the New York Knicks by Jackson, who had become the team's president. He was fired in 2016, and has since been featured as a broadcast television analyst on Turner Sports' NBA programming. Fisher also joined Spectrum SportsNet for the 2016-17 NBA season to work as an in-studio analyst for the Los Angeles Lakers. On January 19, 2017, Fisher was announced as one of the analysts for Turner Sports' new Players Only programming slate.Fisher is the all-time NBA record holder in playoff games played. While playing for the Lakers, he hit a buzzer beater with 0.4 second left in game 5 of the 2004 Western Conference Semifinals against the San Antonio Spurs, which the NBA lists as the 18th-greatest playoff moment of all time.

Carlos Arroyo

Carlos Alberto Arroyo Bermúdez (born July 30, 1979) is a Puerto Rican former professional basketball player who played for Leones de Ponce of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) until April 2019. Arroyo had previously played in the National Basketball Association with the Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, and Boston Celtics. In the 2008–09 season, he played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Basketball Super League, winning the league's championship, and being named the Final's Most Valuable Player. He has also played professionally in Puerto Rico, Spain and Turkey.
Arroyo was a member of the senior Puerto Rican national basketball team that defeated the United States at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games. He also represented Puerto Rico at the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan.
On May 2, 2019, arroyo was picked by Trilogy to play in the Big3, a 3-on-3 basketball league founded by rapper Ice Cube.

Devin Harris

Devin Lamar Harris (born February 27, 1983) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Harris attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Harris was selected with the fifth pick in the 2004 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards.

Jay Humphries

John Jay Humphries (born October 17, 1962) is a retired American professional basketball player who played in the NBA.  He later served as the first head coach of the NBA D-League's Reno Bighorns. Jay last worked as an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets.
Humphries played on the top-ranked high school basketball team in the country in 1980. Inglewood High School went undefeated with the help of Humphries, center Vince Kelley, point guard Ralph Jackson, and wing man Angelo Robinson, as they went on to win the national championship that year. Humphries, a 6'3" guard, then played four seasons of college basketball for the University of Colorado. By the end of his stint in Colorado, he broke 16 school records including career assists, steals, and games played.

Humphries was selected 13th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 1984 NBA Draft. He was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in 1988. The Bucks traded him to the Utah Jazz prior to the 1992-93 season in exchange for Blue Edwards. Humphries retired in 1995 as a member of the Boston Celtics; he holds career averages of 11.1 points and 5.5 assists per game.
In 1998, he joined a team of retired NBA players, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson and Adrian Dantley on a tour of China for a series of exhibition games against the Chinese national team.Humphries began his basketball coaching career as an associate head coach in the Chinese CBA in 2001. He spent another five years in the Korean Professional Basketball League in South Korea as head coach of the Inchon ET Land Black Slamer, and associate head coach for the Wonju TG Xers.From 2010-2012 he served as the head coach for the Foshan Linglions.In the 2012-13 season, he served as the assistant coach for the Memphis Grizzlies.For the 2014–15 season, Humphries was hired by the Brooklyn Nets as an assistant to new head coach Lionel Hollins and helped his team reach the playoffs.

Earl Watson

Earl Joseph Watson Jr. (born June 12, 1979) is an American professional basketball coach and former player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins, where he was a four-year starter and named all-conference as a senior in the Pac-10 (now known as the Pac-12). Watson was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in the second round of the 2001 NBA draft with the 39th overall selection. He played 13 seasons in the NBA with seven teams before becoming a coach in 2014. He was the head coach of the Phoenix Suns from 2016 to 2017.

Raulzinho Neto

Raul Togni Neto (born May 19, 1992) is a Brazilian professional basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is also a member of the senior men's Brazilian national basketball team.
He also holds an Italian passport.

Keith McLeod

Keith McLeod (born November 5, 1979) is an American professional basketball player who last played for LF Basket Norrbotten in Sweden. He is 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) tall. He has also played in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz, Golden State Warriors and Indiana Pacers, in the CBA for the Yakima Sun Kings, in the USBL for the Saint Joseph Express, in the NBA D-League with the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, Canton Charge, and Erie BayHawks, and in the Italian top league for Mabo Prefabbricati Livorno, Lottomatica Virtus Roma and Montepaschi Siena.

Sundiata Kofi Gaines (born April 18, 1986) is an American professional basketball player who plays for DSC Basket of the Liga Uruguaya de Basketball (LUB). He played college basketball at the University of Georgia.

Ronnie Price

Ronald D'Wayne Price (born June 21, 1983) is an American former professional basketball player and current scout for the Phoenix Suns.
Price grew up in Friendswood, Texas and played college basketball for one year at Nicholls State and three years at Utah Valley State (now Utah Valley). Price was not drafted in the 2005 NBA draft and played for the Sacramento Kings from 2005 to 2008. Price then played for the Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, Orlando Magic, and Los Angeles Lakers before returning to Phoenix for a second and final playing stint.

Emmanuel Mudiay

Emmanuel Kabeya Mudiay (born March 5, 1996) is a Congolese professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played high school basketball for Grace Preparatory Academy and Prime Prep Academy in Texas, where he gained much of the media's attention. He committed to play for the SMU Mustangs men's basketball team on August 24, 2013 but later made the decision to forgo college and joined the Guangdong Southern Tigers in China. After an injury-riddled season in China, he was selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets.

Raul Lopez

Raül López

Raül López i Molist (born April 15, 1980) is a Spanish retired professional basketball player. He played for the National Basketball Association's Utah Jazz. López is a native of Vic, Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. At 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) tall, he played at the point guard position. López was featured on the Spanish version of the NBA Live 2004 video game.

Jamaal Tinsley

Jamaal Lee Tinsley (born February 28, 1978) is an American former professional basketball player. Tinsley played his collegiate career at Iowa State University.  Following his senior year he was drafted by the Vancouver Grizzlies with the 27th pick of the 2001 NBA draft, and was immediately dealt to the Atlanta Hawks, and then to the Indiana Pacers on draft night. Tinsley played 11 seasons in the NBA, primarily with the Pacers, as well as the Grizzlies and Jazz.

Trey Burke

Alfonso Clark "Trey" Burke III (born November 12, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 9th overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft and immediately traded to the Utah Jazz. He has also played with the Washington Wizards and New York Knicks. He played college basketball for the Michigan Wolverines of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). As a sophomore during the 2012–13 season, he earned National Player of the Year and led the 2012–13 Wolverines to the championship game of the 2013 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. Shortly after the tournament he declared his eligibility for the draft.

John Crotty

John K. Crotty (born July 15, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player.
A 6'1" point guard from the University of Virginia, Crotty was undrafted, but played in 11 NBA seasons from 1992 to 2003.
Crotty holds Virginia's records for career assists with 683 and assists in a season with 214 (1989–90).  He scored 1,646 points and recorded 12 double-doubles in points and assists during his Virginia career.  Crotty was a third-team All-ACC selection in 1990 and 1991. He was a first-team All-ACC Tournament choice in 1991 and a second-team All-ACC Tournament selection in 1990. He also earned honorable mention All-America honors from The Associated Press and The Sporting News in 1990.
Crotty played for the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle SuperSonics, Detroit Pistons and Denver Nuggets. In his NBA career, Crotty played in 477 games and scored a total of 1,903 points. After retiring from professional basketball, Crotty became a sports analyst for the Miami Heat.  Crotty is also a Principal in the Miami office of Avison Young.
During his playing days, when making a long basket it was sometimes playfully called a 'Crotty Chop', a play on 'Karate Chop'.

Mark Jackson

Mark Arrol Jackson (born April 1, 1965) is an American former National Basketball Association (NBA) player and coach. A point guard from St. John's University, he played for the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets in the NBA in a career spanning from 1987 to 2004.
After retiring from playing basketball, Jackson became a broadcast commentator for ESPN and ABC alongside his former coach Jeff Van Gundy and play-by-play man Mike Breen. He also worked as an analyst for The YES Network's New Jersey Nets games. In 2011 the Golden State Warriors hired Jackson as head coach. He coached the team for three seasons, but was fired in 2014 despite leading the Warriors to consecutive playoff appearances for the first time in over 20 years.
On May 17, 2014, Jackson reached a multiyear agreement to return to ESPN as a game analyst.
