The Best Musical Artists From Vermont

Updated May 13, 2021 1.3k votes 216 voters 9.5k views56 items

List RulesOnly artists born or raised in Vermont or bands formed in Vermont.

Here are the best artists and bands from Vermont. Over the decades, Vermont has been a rich source of rock, folk, and traditional music. The biggest band to come out of the state is probably Phish. The famous jam band has been so influential that Ben & Jerry's (who are also Vermont natives) named an ice cream flavor after the group. While cities around the state have hosted various jam bands, there is so much more to appreciate about the Green Mountain State. The best musical artists from Vermont come from all over the state, but the majestic landscapes of the area certainly inspired at least a few.

Some other bands to have gotten their start in Vermont include Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Twiddle, and Mellow Yellow. In addition to bands that really know how to rock, the state has also produced a surprising number of composers. Some of the most famous to get their start here include Dennis Bathory-Kitsz, Otto Luening, and Jon Appleton. Other popular Vermont artists include JoJo, Aaron Lewis, and Nothing,Nowhere.

There are a lot of famous musical artists from Vermont on this list. Which ones do you put on playlists often, and which ones could you not care less about? Vermont is for lovers, so show us the artists you love by voting them up.
