The Mountaineers of West Virginia are one of those teams that just seems to stick around. There's always there, and they're never going down without a fight. The program has racked up 15 conference championships, as well as having the most victories of any NCAA FBS program to never win a national title. The Mountaineers have also produced 11 consensus All-Americans. Though no Mountaineer has ever won the Heisman Trophy, there have been six candidates over the years (most notably Major Harris).
They may not be a college football powerhouse, but the program's ability to consistently bring it year after year without the recruiting prowess enjoyed by schools like USC, Ohio State, or Florida for example, speaks volumes.
