The world of the MCU and Marvel invites the imagination, and it’s nice to see that it isn’t just fans who wonder, “What if?” There are so many possible episodes of What If...?, thanks to the long-running Marvel comics series of the same name that speculates about alternate worlds and possibilities, but which stories really stand out? Is it Peggy Carter as Captain America that is the alternate world you want to see, or is it a Star-Lord T’Challa?

What If...? is an animated anthology series created by A.C. Bradley and premiered on August 11, 2021, on Disney+, making it the fourth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Part of Phase Four of the MCU, What If...?, had been waiting in the wings until the end of the Infinity Saga, which allowed for more possible branching paths of story - something they'd already prepared audiences for with the world(s) of Loki. With many MCU actors returning to voice their characters, What If...? episodes play with possibilities.
