    Release Date: January 8

Sacrificing his life and reincarnating into a future world didn't exactly go as the Demon King Anos Voldigoad had planned. He'd intended to use his sacrifice to end the war between demons and humans and revive in a peaceful era.

While he succeeded in that mission, the people of his new era don't recognize him as the Demon King because he doesn't match the fake persona that's been created for him. Worse, most demons are far less powerful than they were in his era. In Season 2, Anos continues his journey to be recognized as the powerful king he is.

    Release Date: January 10

Vinland Saga is a historical anime unlike any other. The first season sees Thorfinn trying and failing to get revenge on the people who ended his father, only to end up learning a lot from them. Askeladd, one of the leaders of the plot against his father, becomes both Thorfinn's nemesis and father figure.

Season 2 begins a year later. Thorfinn is working on a farm in Denmark as a slave. His life seems to be slipping out of his control, but when he meets a fellow slave named Einar, things slip into focus.

Besides Thorfinn's story, the season also focuses on Canute, who is attempting to take over Denmark in order to create a utopian society.

    Release Date: January 7

Video game adaptations can be hit or miss, but Nier: Automata Ver1.1a, which is based on a Square Enix game of the same name, looks promising.

The anime won't follow exactly the same storyline as the games, but will instead follow a new story that incorporates many of its themes. The protagonists will be two special agents named 2B and 9S who work for Yohra, a combat and intelligence organization.

    Release Date: January 5

Tomo Aizawa has always been one of the boys. While she's happy with her tomboyish personality and her bro-y relationship with her friends, she also wants her best friend Junichirou "Jun" Kubota to notice her more feminine side. Why? Because she's in love with him, and she wants him to think of her as a girl.

Unfortunately for her, Junichirou didn't even know she was a girl when they first met, and he's completely oblivious to her blatant declarations of love.
