The WWF Light Heavyweight Championship existed from 1997 to 2001 when the belt disappeared forever. Well, forever so far. Who knows what will happen? It's Wrestling. Maybe It'll come back some day with the European Championship. Maybe even the hardcore belt.

Anyway, these are the best Light Heavyweight champions in WWE history. If we're being completely honest, the Light Heavyweight belt really never meant all that much. Dean Malenko and Taka Michinoku brought some sort of honor to the strap, but it was never a part of any major story lines or any memorable feuds. Mostly the belt is known for being a HILARIOUS prop during the Monday Night Wars. I bet you can still hear those "Gillberg" chants echoing through arenas all over the globe.
