Spanning 11 seasons, and more than 200 episodes, X-Files is arguably one of the best sci-fi television shows out there. Good enough to come back a decade later for a season 11, in fact. Following the adventures of FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully as they investigate supernatural crimes and signs of the government's involvement in alien life on earth, the best X-Files episodes promise one thing: "the truth is out there."

This list of all X-Files episodes, ranked, will allow die-hard fans of The Lone Gunmen to vote up the best X-Files episodes, and vote down all the bad ones. Which X-Files episode is your favorite? Before "Bad Blood" was the name of a Taylor Swift music video riddled with pop stars, it was also the title of X-Files, Season 5, Episode 12.  "Bad Blood" tops our list of the best rated X-Files episodes. Written by Vince Gilligan, "Bad Blood" was one of the "Monster-of-the-Week" episodes that strayed from the traditional X-Files storytelling format. While most episodes were about the ongoings at the FBI, the search for Mulder's alien-abducted sister, and trying to figure out what the government is hiding from the public, several episodes per season were devoted to expanding the supernatural storyline of X-Files to include monsters, vampires, ghosts, and creatures of the night. Aliens aren't the only thing Mulder and Scully are fighting in this awesome X-Files episode!

Other episodes, like "From Outer Space" and "One Breath" seek to explore the series's overarching storyline: are there aliens living among us? What does the government know that we don't? What's going on in Area 51? These types of episodes help advance the overall plot of the series, instead of singling out specific creatures.
