Portal 2

Portal 2 is a 2011 first-person puzzle-platform video game developed and published by Valve Corporation. It is the sequel to Portal and was released on April 19, 2011, for Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The retail versions of the game are distributed by Electronic Arts while online distribution of the Windows, OS X and Linux versions is handled by Valve's content delivery service, Steam. Portal 2 was announced on March 5, 2010, following a week-long alternate reality game based on new patches to the original game. Before the game's release on Steam, the company released the Potato Sack, a second multi-week alternate reality game, involving 13 independently developed titles which culminated in a distributed computing spoof to release Portal 2 several hours early.
The game retains Portal '​s gameplay elements, and adds new features, including tractor beams, laser redirection, bridges made of light, and paint-like 'gels' accelerating the player's speed, allowing the player-character to jump higher or place portals on any surface.

Braid

Braid is a platform and puzzle video game developed by Number None, Inc. The game was released on August 6, 2008 for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade service. A Microsoft Windows version was released on April 10, 2009. Hothead Games ported and released the game to Mac OS X on May 20, 2009 and the PlayStation Network on November 12, 2009. A Linux port, created by Ryan C. Gordon, was released December 14, 2010 as part of the second Humble Indie Bundle.
The basic story elements unfold as the protagonist, Tim, attempts to rescue a princess from a monster. Text passages laid throughout the game reveal a multifaceted narrative, giving clues about Tim's contemplations and motivations. The game features traditional aspects of the platform genre while integrating various powers of time-manipulation. Using these abilities, the player progresses by finding and assembling jigsaw puzzle pieces.
Jonathan Blow designed the game as a personal critique of contemporary trends in game development. He funded the three-year project with his own money. Webcomic artist David Hellman drew the artwork, which underwent several iterations until it satisfied Blow's vision.

Limbo

Limbo is a puzzle-platform video game, the first title by independent Danish game developer Playdead. The game was released in July 2010 as a platform exclusive title on Xbox Live Arcade, and was later re-released as part of a retail game pack along with Trials HD and 'Splosion Man in April 2011. Ports of the game to the PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows were created by Playdead, released after the year-long Xbox 360 exclusivity period was completed. An OS X version was released in December 2011, while a Linux port was available in May 2012. Ports for PlayStation Vita and iOS were released in June and July 2013, respectively. An Xbox One port was given away for free on November 23, 2014 to the majority of customers who purchased an Xbox One on its original launch day, and a PlayStation 4 version was released on February 24, 2015.
Limbo is a 2D sidescroller, incorporating the physics system Box2D to govern environmental objects and the player character. The player guides an unnamed boy through dangerous environments and traps as he searches for his sister. The developer built the game's puzzles expecting the player to fail before finding the correct solution.

Portal

Portal is a 2007 first-person puzzle-platform video game developed by Valve Corporation. The game was released in a bundle package called The Orange Box for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 on October 9, 2007, and for the PlayStation 3 on December 11, 2007. The Windows version of the game is available for download separately through Valve's content delivery system Steam and was released as a standalone retail product on April 9, 2008. A standalone version called Portal: Still Alive was released on the Xbox Live Arcade service on October 22, 2008; this version includes an additional 14 puzzles. An OS X version was released as part of the Mac-compatible Steam platform on May 12, 2010. A Linux version was released on Steam as a beta on May 2, 2013, and came out of beta on June 24, 2013. An Android port for the Nvidia Shield was released on May 12, 2014.
The game primarily comprises a series of puzzles that must be solved by teleporting the player's character and simple objects using "the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device", a device that can create inter-spatial portals between two flat planes.

Trials HD

Trials HD is an Xbox Live Arcade game developed by RedLynx and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It was released on August 12, 2009 as part of the second annual Xbox Live Summer of Arcade and was later re-released in a retail pack alongside Limbo and 'Splosion Man in April 2011. It is a 2.5D puzzle/racing game. The player must guide a trial motorcycle with exaggerated physics through various obstacles to reach each stage's finish line. On September 6, 2012 it was announced that a Microsoft Windows version of Trials HD would be bundled inside a special version of Trials Evolution, dubbed Trials Evolution: Gold Edition. It is the third game in the series.
The game was well received by critics, averaging 86.1% at GameRankings and 86/100 at Metacritic, two video game aggregate sites. In 2009 it received the Best Overall Arcade Game and Best Innovation awards, voted on by the Xbox 360 community. In September 2010 IGN listed Trials HD sixteenth in their top twenty-five Xbox Live Arcade titles of all time. The game was a commercial success, with sales exceeded two million units factoring in collective downloadable content sales.

Fez is a 2012 indie puzzle platform game developed by Polytron Corporation and published by Polytron, Trapdoor, and Microsoft Studios. The player-character Gomez receives a fez that reveals his two-dimensional world to be one of four sides of a three-dimensional world. The player rotates between these four 2D views to realign platforms and solve the game's puzzles. The object of the game is to collect cubes and cube fragments to restore order to the universe.
The game was called an "underdog darling of the indie game scene" during its high-profile and protracted five-year development cycle. Fez designer and Polytron founder Phil Fish gained celebrity status for his outspoken public persona and his prominence in the 2012 documentary Indie Game: The Movie, which detailed Fez '​s final stages of development and Polytron's related legal issues. Fez met critical acclaim upon its April 2012 release for Xbox Live Arcade. The game was ported to other platforms following the expiration of a yearlong exclusivity agreement.
Reviewers commended the game's emphasis on discovery and freedom, but criticized its technical issues, in-game navigation, and endgame backtracking.

Trials Evolution

Trials Evolution is a racing video game for the Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows in which each player controls a motorcycle trials rider who traverses an obstacle course. The game was developed by RedLynx and published by Microsoft Studios. It is a follow up to Trials HD of 2009 and successor to several preceding Trials games by the same developers.
The Xbox 360 version was released via Xbox Live Arcade on April 18, 2012. On March 21, 2013 it was released for Windows as Trials Evolution: Gold Edition, including a bundled copy of Trials HD. On both games platforms Trials Evolution includes a course editor to allow users to create their own scenarios.
Evolution received critical acclaim from media outlets. Aggregate website Metacritic reports a score of 90/100 while fellow aggregate site GameRankings reports a score of 91.58%. Reviewers praised the overall gameplay, challenge, visuals and editing abilities given to players. Some reviewers were critical of the game's soundtrack.

Saw, also known as Saw: The Video Game, is a survival horror video game that was developed by Zombie Studios and published by Konami. The game launched on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, with a downloadable version released soon after for the Microsoft Windows platform. The game was first released on October 6, 2009, in North America and was released later that year in other regions. The Microsoft Windows version was released on October 22, 2009. Being a tie-in game of the Saw film series, the game is set between the first and second films.
In Saw, The Jigsaw Killer has healed Detective David Tapp from his gunshot wound, and places him in an abandoned insane asylum to teach him a lesson in life appreciation. Obsessed, Tapp traverses the asylum and gathers clues along the way in hopes of finally apprehending Jigsaw. As he progresses through the asylum, he encounters several people with past and current connections to him, whom he must save. The asylum also has inhabitants who are in games of their own, ordered to kill Tapp. Along the way, Tapp uncovers the origins of Jigsaw and the motives behind his tests.

TotemBall

Totemball is an Xbox Live Arcade musical action game developed by Freeverse Software/Strange Flavour and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It takes advantage of the Xbox Live Vision Camera with the camera tracking the players hand movements. It was released on October 4, 2006 as a free download. It does require the camera to play.

Shadow Assault: Tenchu is a downloadable action puzzle video game developed and published by From Software for the Xbox Live Arcade in 2008.

Lumines

Lumines is a puzzle video game based on sound and light patterns. Created by game designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi and his company, Q Entertainment, it was first released as a launch title for the PlayStation Portable in Japan on December 12, 2004 and released in North America on March 23, 2005 and released in Europe on September 1, 2005. As of October 11, 2005, Lumines has sold over half a million units since its original release in Japan. Europe has sold 180,000 units since its release in September 2005, and North America has sold around 300,000 since March while selling 70,000 units In Japan.
In September 2005, mobile gamemaker Gameloft announced that they would be bringing both Meteos and Lumines to cell phones. Lumines Mobile was released on March 1, 2006. A port for the PlayStation 2 was released on February 18, 2007 in Europe and February 27, 2007 in North America as Lumines Plus. It was also released for PC on the WildGames platform in December 2007 and later on Steam in 2008. In 2009, Lumines Touch was released on the iTunes App Store for iOS devices. The game was followed up by four sequels: Lumines Live!

Trine 2

Trine 2 is a side-scrolling action platform and puzzle video game developed by Frozenbyte. It is the sequel to Trine and was released on Windows, OS X, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade on December 7, 2011 and for Linux on March 31, 2012. Trine 2 allows three players to play the iconic roles of a wizard, a thief, and a knight in a simultaneous cooperative mode. A Director's Cut edition was confirmed during Nintendo's conference at E3 2012, and was available via Wii U's eShop on the console's launch day in all regions except Australia and Japan. The Director's Cut edition is Frozenbyte's first self-published title on a console format, although this edition will be released by Nintendo themselves in Japan on January 2014. On October 28, 2013 it was announced via the PlayStation Blog that Trine 2: Complete Story will be coming to PlayStation 4. It was released as a launch title for the PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe. It's the first PlayStation 4 game to support stereoscopic 3D.

Lost: Via Domus

Lost: Via Domus is a video game based on the ABC television series Lost. The game was released for the Microsoft Windows operating system, and the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game consoles in February 2008, after the third season of the series. In Via Domus, players control Elliott Maslow, a survivor of the plane crash that Lost revolves around. Although Elliott is not featured on the series, the game contains many characters from the show, as well as many locations from Lost '​s mysterious island. Some of the original cast of the series provided the voices for their characters, and the Lost composer Michael Giacchino created the score for the game.
A Lost game was released for mobile phones on January 16, 2007 and first-generation iPod on May 23, 2007. It is not related to Via Domus, nor created by the same developer.

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom is a puzzle platform game for Xbox Live Arcade and Windows PC developed by The Odd Gentlemen. Reviews of the game praised its unique puzzle mechanics, comparing them to the likes of Portal and Braid. It was released for the Xbox 360 on February 17, 2010. It was originally a student's graduate thesis at the University of Southern California. It was published by 2K Play. The PC version was released exclusively via Steam on April 20, 2010.

The Splatters

The Splatters is a physics based puzzle video game for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade. It was developed by SpikySnail Games and published by Microsoft Studios. The Splatters was released on April 11, 2012, and has an ESRB rating of Everyone. SpikySnail Games has indicated that they wish to release the game for PC, Mac OS, and Linux, although as of January 2013, their website does not give a release date for those platforms. The Splatters was originally going to be called "Confetti Carnival", however the name was changed prior to release. The game received positive to mixed reviews from critics.

Trine

Trine is a side-scrolling action platform and puzzle video game, developed by Frozenbyte, originally released in 2009, and is now available for Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and PlayStation Network. The game takes place in a medieval fantasy setting and allows players to take control of three separate characters who can battle enemies and solve environmental puzzles.
On December 7, 2011, Frozenbyte released a sequel titled Trine 2. A remake of Trine called Trine: Enchanted Edition, using Trine 2's engine and with online multiplayer, was released on July 24, 2014. In 2015, Frozenbyte announced Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power.

Bomberman Live

Bomberman Live is a downloadable video game for the Xbox Live Arcade, developed by Backbone Entertainment. Bomberman Live is an original version of the classic game Bomberman, an arcade-style maze-based video game originally developed by Hudson Soft. The game was officially announced on May 16, 2007 and released on July 18, 2007. It is the first in a trilogy of downloadable Bomberman titles, later followed by Bomberman Blast and Bomberman Ultra for WiiWare and PlayStation Network respectively.

Brain Challenge

Brain Challenge is a mental exercise video game similar to Big Brain Academy, featuring "brain exercise puzzles". The game was developed by Gameloft for mobile phones and iPods and released on September 5, 2007. It was followed by a Nintendo DS version on January 8, 2008, an Xbox Live Arcade release on March 12, 2008, and a PlayStation 3 launch on November 27, 2008. The N-Gage 2.0 version was released on the day of the service's launch, April 3, 2008. A version for WiiWare was released in Japan on October 14, 2008, in Europe on November 7, 2008 and in North America on November 10, 2008. The Wii version also uses Miis for the players profile. OnLive also had launched their new streaming game platform with Brain Challenge on July 27, 2010. On January 20, 2011, the game was released for Mac OS X.

Luxor

Luxor is a game and series of tile-matching action puzzle video games, developed by MumboJumbo, with the initial release in 2005. The first sequel to this game was Luxor 2, which was released in 2006 and included new gameplay, levels and bonus. After that came Luxor 3, which featured 7 gameplay modes and improved graphics. It was followed by Luxor: Quest for the Afterlife.

Blocks That Matter

Blocks That Matter is a two-dimensional indie puzzle platformer developed by Swing Swing Submarine. It was released on August 19, 2011 for Windows, Mac, Linux and Xbox 360. The player takes the role of “Tetrobot”, a robot which is able to collect blocks by hitting them from under or drilling them, and can then construct shapes in a “puzzle mode” using four blocks at a time. BTM heavily references the games Minecraft and Tetris through the main characters, in-game mechanics and concepts such as “Pajitnovian physics”. The Tetrobot will also be playable as a character in the upcoming game UFHO2.
The game's name comes from special blocks hidden in the story mode levels. They are unusable blocks that initially appear in levels as treasure chests, which serve no purpose other than to unlock bonus levels. The blocks are direct references to famous blocks in games that inspired the developers, such as a ?-block from Super Mario Bros., an Aperture Science Weighted Companion Cube from Portal, Rubik's Cube, and a die, hence the "blocks that matter".
BTM received generally favourable reviews, with an aggregated score of 76 on Metacritic.

Switchball

Switchball is a 3D action-puzzle game, made by Swedish developer Atomic Elbow, which was released for Microsoft Windows on June 26, 2007, on Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360 on November 7, 2007 and on PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 on September 17, 2009.

de Blob 2, previously known as de Blob: The Underground, is a sequel to the Wii exclusive 2008 platformer, de Blob. The puzzle game was released in North America on 22 February 2011, 24 February 2011 in Australia and 25 February 2011 in Europe. It is developed by the now defunct Blue Tongue Entertainment, and published by THQ. The game was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms in addition to the Wii and DS.

Lucidity

Lucidity is a 2D side-scrolling platform/puzzle game developed by LucasArts for Microsoft Windows and Xbox Live Arcade.

Luxor 2

Luxor 2 is an action-oriented casual puzzle game developed by MumboJumbo. First released in 2006, it is the sequel to the original Luxor, which was released in 2005. The title can be played online at several different sites, and can be purchased for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Xbox Live Arcade.
The game's console debut was on June 11, 2008, with its release via Xbox Live Arcade. It can be purchased directly from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Luxor 2 is also available in a Windows Vista-only version from MSN Games which includes improved graphics over the previous computer versions.
