Young Sheldon is a comedy television series and a spin-off prequel to The Big Bang Theory, telling the story of Sheldon Cooper’s childhood in East Texas. Young Sheldon premiered on CBS as a special preview on September 25, 2017, and was swiftly renewed. The initial idea for developing the series came from Jim Parsons (Big Bang’s adult Sheldon himself), who passed along the idea to producers in November 2016.
