Ever been in a wedding party? Then you've learned the one essential truth about a bride's big day: it can turn a normally sweet and loving lady into a total nightmare. Nothing is worse than the wrath of a Bridezilla! Some women might manage to maintain their cool, but for every levelheaded wife-to-be, there are ten brides who went crazy before their big day. Are these girls just secret monsters, or is there something about a diamond ring that turns these ladies into the worst versions of of themselves?
Bridezilla attacks come in all forms: text message, email, phone, and worst of all, in person (sometimes as they are literally ripping out your hair). Our list is filled with "okay, maybe that isn't so bad" to "OMG this friendship is over forever!"
Here are some crazy bride stories about what happens when a beautiful girl takes the trip towards happily ever after. Here's what happens when you fall in love and hit every meanstick and b*tch branch on the way down. This list of the worst Bridezilla stories even includes a wicked stepmother!
A warning to potential Bridezillas: your friends want to celebrate with you, not pay for you. So if you want a wedding day that pulls out all the stops, pull out your own wallet and don't demand (or expect) that your guests are gonna foot the bill. Go ahead and color coordinate, but don’t expect guests to stick your chosen list of "color combinations and preferred fabrics." While you should enjoy pre-wedded bliss, remember that you'll still want some friends after your big day.
So choose a great venue, make sure everyone has enough to drink, pick some good music, and then chill the EFF out. Take a look at our list of wedding horror stories to learn how not to act, and then let us know which of these are the worst Bridezillas ever.
When a bride cares more about her wedding photos than her friendships, there's bound to be a problem. For one bride, those photos were so important she kicked a bridesmaid out of her wedding for getting pregnant.
After years of trying, one of the bridesmaids was overjoyed to learn that she an her husband were expecting a baby. The one person who wasn't happy to hear the news: the bride. The Bridezilla was furious that her bridesmaid would now be pregnant for wedding day pictures so she dumped her from the wedding party.
Sad enough on it's own, but later, the bridesmaid tragically miscarried. When the bride found out, she called to let her know she could be in the wedding again. Needless to say, the bridesmaid skipped the wedding.
One Bridezilla's grandmother died two hours before the wedding. Rather than cry tears of mourning, she threw a temper tantrum because the death had thrown off the seating arrangements and there would be a big empty space.
From monitoring the calorie intake of her bridesmaids to overseeing their hair decisions and forcing them to gain weight, this bride sent weekly emails bossing her wedding party around. Here are some excerpts:
“No-one can be skinner than the bride. That means Kelly and Lizzie will be on a protein weight gainer diet exclusively until May. I will have the nutritionist call you to discuss diet plans.”
“Hair cuts: If you plan on chopping off your locks, please submit your proposed new look prior to any actions (this applies to coloring as well).”
“I was thinking that we should start a daily google docs, where everyone can update in real time their daily calorie content. Due to exams, I have not been the very best at requesting our weekly weigh-ins but thought the food calculator would be a great way for me to monitor everyone’s caloric in take. Thoughts?”
Not exactly the most welcoming new mom, this Bridezilla banned her new step-kids from her wedding after one of them suffered a horrible kitchen accident that left her with ugly wounds. The bride's step-daughter was supposed to be one of her bridesmaids, until the V-shaped burns on her forehead got her kicked her out of the wedding.
The wicked stepmother didn't want her pictures to be ruined. In the end, none of the kids were allowed to be at the ceremony. So much for one big happy family.
