Marathons have become a popular way to test your strength and endurance. Several famous actors, musicians, and politicians have completed the 26.2 miles of a marathon. One former president even ran the 1993 Houston Marathon in under four hours. This list of celebrities who have run marathons is loosely ranked by fame and popularity.
Who is the most famous person who ran a marathon? Katie Holmes tops our list. She ran the New York Marathon in 2007 with a time of 5:29:58. Oprah Winfrey ran the 1994 Marine Corps Marathon with a finishing time of 4:29:20. She said, “Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it.”
Former President George W. Bush ran the 1993 Houston Marathon with a finishing time of 3:44:52. He said, “One of the great things about running - at least when I was free to do it on my own - was the ability to explore and see the natural world. My greatest runs have been those when I just get absorbed by the environment.” Former Vice President Al Gore ran the 1997 Marine Corps Marathon with a finishing time of 4:58:25. Several other politicians have also ran marathons as well.
