Being a celebrity is obviously a very financially lucrative job, and often times, famous people want to give back to the community by starting foundations or donating to charities. Several famous actors, musicians and athletes have started their own non-profit organizations. Some of these celebrities' charities work to preserve the environment, while others look for a cure for deadly diseases. Who is the most famous person who started a foundation? Jennifer Lopez is near the top of our list. Jennifer Lopez created the Lopez Family Foundation, which aims to increase healthcare availability for women and children. Katherine Heigl and her mother founded The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, which works to end animal abuse, in her brother's name. Also at the top is John Mayer, who founded the Heart and Armor Foundation in 2012 to focus on the health issues of combat veterans, particularly women veterans. Focusing on post-traumatic stress disorder, the foundation has developed screening tools and health routines, in addition to publishing research papers with the data they've collected.

Several famous men also founded their own charities. Along with Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, David Pressman, and Jerry Weintraub, George Clooney founded Not On Our Watch. The foundation focuses global attention to end atrocities around the world. The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which was founded in 1998, works on a variety of conservation and environmental concerns.

Heart and Armor Foundation focuses on both mental and physical health issues affecting combat veterans, particularly those of women vetrans, who can often be overlooked by existing systems.
