Dissociative Identity Disorder (more commonly referred to as multiple personality disorder) can be very hard to diagnose in celebrities. Do they have true multiple personalities, or are those just part of a persona they are trying to project? This list of celebrities with dissociative identity disorder includes people who have actually been diagnosed as well as those who seem like they might be dealing with the disorder.
Adam Duritz from Counting Crows and Roseanne Barr are two of the more well-known diagnosed celebrities with dissociative identity disorder. Though she was not diagnosed while she was alive, many people believe Marilyn Monroe could be included on a list of famous people with multiple personalities. And people speculate that numerous other celebs (including Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj) have multiple personality disorder. Are they just supercreative in imagining their alter egos, or do those alter egos actually exist in their minds?

People often cite Nicki Minaj's alter ego, Roman Zolanski, as proof that she is dealing with multiple personality disorder. As she told Out, "Roman is so flamboyant, so outspoken, so open, and, you know, creative."
And as she told MTV News, “Everybody knows my favorite alter ego is Roman. [He’s] bad. That’s why I like Roman. I think I started liking Roman more because everybody else starting like Roman, so he became my favorite. People are expecting him to do some real craziness on the next album.”
It's long been suspected that Marilyn Monroe was suffering from dissociative identity disorder. As Healing From BPD explains, in looking at Monroe's life, it's speculate that the actress had "at least 5 of the 9 symptoms required for a BPD diagnosis," including: "identity disturbance" and "frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment."

In 2008 Heisman Trophy winner, pro football star, and Olympian Hershel Walker revealed in his book Breaking Freethat he was living with dissociative identity disorder. "I didn't really learn about this until about 10 years ago," Walker told CNN. "My life was out of control. I was not happy, I was very sad, I was angry and I didn't understand why."
Maybe it's just that she's extremely creative or outlandish and loves creating alter egos such as Jo Calderone. But as Celebzen explains, "many experts have come forward saying that Lady Gaga appears to suffer from Multiple Personality Disorder."
