Former All-Star baseball player Johnny Damon was arrested on February 19, 2021, in Florida. The charge was for resisting an officer, after he was pulled over for suspicion of driving under the influence.
Damon was pulled over after he swerved, hit a curb, and drove past a stop sign, according to a police report. The former MLB star reportedly slurred his words, and was unsteady on his feet as the police questioned him. His blood alcohol level was reportedly more than three times the legal limit. Jail records show that his wife, Michelle Mangan-Damon, was arrested as well, and is facing charges of battery on an officer and resisting with violence.
Chad Wheeler was arrested on January 25, 2021, on suspicion of felony domestic violence. According to The Seattle Times, Wheeler appeared in King County District Court after he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend, and told not to have contact with the alleged victim. He also had to surrender all weapons. He was released after paying the $400,000 bail.
Police responded to a call of a woman who was locked in a bathroom following a "physical fight" with her boyfriend. She reportedly called 911, telling them that she was being "killed." She suffered a dislocated arm, and was bleeding. The report also stated that police officers could hear the alleged victim screaming when they arrived at the apartment.
Wheeler was an offensive tackle for the Seattle Seahawks, but his contract was set to expire soon, so the team went ahead and cut him following the arrest. They also released a statement condemning what he had allegedly done, and urging him to seek help.
Singer Trey Songz was arrested on January 24, 2021, after a brawl with a cop, which was caught on camera at the Kansas City Chiefs football game. According to onlookers, who spoke with TMZ, Songz was heckled by other football fans, and when he asked them to stop, the office reportedly "went after him."
