For over 40 years, fans flocked to downtown Seattle to cheer on the Supersonics. The NBA team boasted such luminaries as Shawn Kemp, Spencer Haywood, and Kevin Durant throughout its history, and even took home the championship title in 1979. Washingtonians were fiercely proud of their team through all of its ups and downs. But all good things must come to an end: the franchise relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008, and became the Thunder. Before the Sonics left, though, they counted a number of famous Seattle fans amongst their other supporters.

The most famous of the celebrity Supersonics fans isn't an actor or a musician, but rather an entrepreneur. Microsoft founder and Seattle native Bill Gates and his wife Melinda were often spotted among the celebrities at Supersonics games. Fellow Seattleite and Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard also loved to cheer on the Sonics.

But why does Lakers fan Ice Cube land on this list? He earned a spot thanks to his lyrics in "It Was A Good Day." He originally rapped “It's ironic, I had the brew she had the chronic/The Lakers beat the Supersonics.” But in 2013 – after the team moved to Oklahoma City – he changed the lyric to “It’s ironic, I had the brew she had the chronic/What happened to the Supersonics?”

It's something brokenhearted supporters – average Joes and celebrity Supersonic fans alike – wonder to this day.
