Who Will Win the 2022 College Football Playoff Championship? Football is back folks! So you know what that means, it's time to make your 2022 NCAA College Football predictions. When the 2022 college football season opens, it's officially time to ask the big question on the minds of millions of football fans out there: who will win this year's college football playoff 2022? The big game will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on January 9, 2023. What teams will reach the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship? Who will end up battling for the College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy?
Last year's College Football Playoff was one of the best NCAA championships of all time when the Georgia Bulldogs outgunned the Alabama Crimson Tide. Can fans expect a rematch this year? We will see. The ACC favorite Clemson Tigers might have something to say about it. As will C.J. Stroud's Ohio State Buckeyes, who are high in current NCAA football power rankings. There's only one team that can take home the title, so it's up to you to decide what fanbase will be celebrating when all is said and done.

2022 Outlook: Stetson Bennett returns after claiming MVP honors in Georgia's national championship victory last season, which caused the chain reaction of JT Daniels transfer. The Bulldogs will once again rely on the run game in their title defense. On the backs of Kendall Milton and Kenny McIntosh, UGA knows they can control games via a promising O-line and tight end Brock Bowers, who will star. The defense lost a lot of playmakers on the front seven though, including five defenders who went in the first round of the NFL draft. However, Kirby Smart has plenty of elite recruits waiting to step in alongside stars Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith.
2022 Outlook: Last year, Michigan took down Ohio State and won their first Big Ten title since 2004 en route to a surprise CFB Playoff appearance after starting the season unranked. Can they repeat last year's magical run? Michigan didn't do much work in the transfer portal to rebuild their decimated defense. So they'll be on notice opening week. The offense, led by Cade McNamara back for his second year as a starter, welcomes back Ronnie Bell to a talented receiving corps.
2022 Outlook: Heisman candidate C.J. Stroud's play was superb in his first year as starter. He threw for 4,435 yards and 44 touchdowns, while the Buckeyes ranked No. 1 in scoring average and total offense. OSU is running it back this year, and wideout Jaxson Smith-Njigba is the latest in an endless line of NFL-caliber Ohio State receivers. Plus, running back TreVeyon Henderson was a beast as a freshman last season and returns to OSU's high powered offense. However, the Buckeyes defense broke down en route to the title, due to inconsistency in the secondary. That's why head coach Ryan Day brought in former Oklahoma State (the other OSU) defensive coordinator JIm Knowles. The Buckeyes season will likely be defined by their week 1 tilt versus perennial contender Notre Dame, who could be vulnerable, having lost head coach Brian Kelly in the offseason.
2022 Outlook: Everybody knows Alabama doesn't rebuild. They reload. Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, Bryce Young, and possibly the best defensive player in the country, Will Anderson, both return. So while losses at wide receiver, running back and offensive line provide some pause about this season, Alabama remains the favorite in the SEC and the College Football Playoff race, having stocked up on impact transfers.. Among the newcomers to watch are ex-LSU cornerback Eli Ricks and Jermaine Burton — the second-leading wide receiver on Georgia’s title team last fall. Lest we forget running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who joins from Georgia Tech after ranking third overall in all-purpose yards last year.
2022 Outlook: Last year, QB D.J. Uiagalelei was expected to be one of the top contenders for the Heisman Trophy. After throwing just nine touchdowns to 10 interceptions in 2021, expectations have seriously been tempered. It’s not even certain the junior will remain the team’s starter. Uiagalelei is expected to win out over incoming freshman Cade Klubnik, a five-star recruit, but a return to the top of the ACC will likely need to be be powered by a defense that was second in scoring, eighth in total defense, and sacked the quarterback over 40 times. Tyler Davis and Myles Murphy will be standouts on an elite D-line. It's that darn QB play that must step up for Clemson to make some waves in the 2022 College Football Playoff Race.
2022 Outlook: Brian Kelly, the longtime Notre Dame gaffer who is the winningest coach in the team's history starts at LSU this fall, a new program for him with one of the most talented recruiting bases at every position ever seen. At ND, Kelly infamously struggled against SEC teams, but was it due to the Fighting Irish's lack of blue chip talent or was it Kelly's rigid coaching style? LSU fans will hope for the former. The Tigers faced thorough losses after firing their 2019 National Championship-winning coach Ed Orgeron, but Kelly reloaded via the transfer portal and did well enough with his first recruiting effort. LSU has challenges to resolve at quarterback and across the offensive line - which lost four starters. The Tigers schedule will be tough, too. They go on the road at Auburn, Florida, Arkansas and TAMU, but at least they get Alabama at home in what's always a season defining game.
