Many famous stand-up comedians and comedic actors with medical issues didn't allow their challenges to get in the way of their dreams. Some of these comics were born with degenerative diseases, while others were involved in accidents later in life. In fact, one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time required use of a wheelchair due to multiple sclerosis.
Who is the most famous comedian with a serious medical issue? Michael J. Fox tops our list. Comedic actor Michael J. Fox has Parkinson's disease. He has said, "I have no choice about whether or not I have Parkinson's. I have nothing but choices about how I react to it. In those choices, there's freedom to do a lot of things in areas that I wouldn't have otherwise found myself in."
In the 1990s, stand-up legend Richard Pryor started using a motorized scooter to get around because of his multiple sclerosis. "Ed" actor Daryl Mitchell is paralyzed from the waist down. He was injured in a motorcycle accident in 2001. "Last Comic Standing" alum Josh Blue has cerebral palsy.
