While the general public often views large corporations with scrutiny, occasionally a news story will pop up about companies doing good in the world. Whether it's a commitment to environmental sustainability or finding a way to give back to the community, some corporations use their power in the world for positive initiatives. As the lines between companies and the people running them gradually become more blurred, many appreciate the genuine goodwill some corporations exhibit through acts of kindness, generosity, and activism.
Companies that use their influence for good spread a much-needed message of unity and mutual understanding - something that is often absent from profit-motivated organizations. Many companies are taking action in 2018 by sacrificing potential profit in favor of the moral high ground, and are using their funds to aid the overall quality of life in their communities. Through these acts of kindness, they not only attract potential customers who want to support generous companies, they also reflect the shifting dynamics and beliefs of their surrounding culture.

Human trafficking is one of the most pervasive issues facing the world today. Far more widespread than many care to believe, human trafficking is estimated to affect 40 million people globally, and nothing short of a monumental effort will bring it to a halt.
Several global tech companies have united to form “Tech Against Trafficking,” an organization designed to combat this worldwide problem using the latest digital technology. Some of the companies involved include BT, Microsoft, and Nokia. The companies came together at a June 2017 event titled “The Role of Digital Technology in Tackling Modern Slavery,” which led to the coalition against trafficking the following year.
Some of the tools Tech Against Trafficking plans to use in its efforts include mobile apps, basic hardware, national helplines, and data tools.
PepsiCo is a major producer of many beverages and snacks. In 2014, PepsiCo began investing in water efficiency, and has since saved approximately 100 million gallons of water each year. This investment also saved the corporation approximately $1.5 million. Pepsi has also led other drives to save water, working with the Nature Conservancy in Latin America and attempting to replenish water sources in Mexico and other countries. Pepsi is continuing to move towards some ambitious goals. The company intends to reduce its water usage by 25% by 2025.
The company conserves water by cleaning out dust particles from sterilized bottles with puffs of air rather than water. PepsiCo also saves water by recycling the excess from its beverages, and the company currently maintains an 87% water recovery rate. In terms of energy, the company covers the roof of its facility with about 700,000 square feet of solar paneling, saving even more water by eliminating the need for water-generated electricity.
Levi Strauss & Co. has been a top name in denim for decades, and recently the company has been updating its process to become more environmentally friendly. Water is a main ingredient in denim production, especially with the variety of washes and styles that Levi's offers. Rather than use thousands of gallons of water a day to wash and treat jeans, the brand has developed machines that wash denim with ozone gas instead.
About a dozen other waterless techniques are currently in use at the brand's San Francisco facility, and the company projects that 80% of Levi's products will be made using these techniques by 2020. The brand hopes to expand these methods to its other plants around the globe to further increase conservation.

Domino’s Pizza, after encountering countless road hazards along various delivery routes, began an initiative in June 2018 to fill in potholes, cracks and bumps across the nation. Through its Paving for Pizza website, Domino’s encourages customers to nominate their towns for the initiative.
On the website's front page, the mission statement reads, “We can’t stand by and let your cheese slide to one side, your toppings get un-topped, or your boxes get flipped. So we’re helping to pave in towns across the country to save your good pizza from these bad roads.”
