List Rules Vote up the high tech features you really want in a new car
There are two basic types of automotive features. The first are the sort of "must have" things that make the automobile objectively better as a machine, giving it greater safety, practicality, or efficiency. The second are just those little tchotchkes of awesome that all of us wish we had in our cars, but so few actually do.
Future cars may feature every single thing considered crazy high-tech today. It certainly has happened before with fuel injection, airbags, and anti-lock brakes. Now we can hardly imagine cars without these features. Thirty years from now, we'll probably say the same of the self-driving tech that's just beginning to emerge, but will certainly change the face of transportation between now and then.
In the meantime, though, these kinds of technologies include automotive amenities like iPads in the dashboard, integrated beer coolers, and navigation systems that sound suspiciously like Morgan Freeman.
