His Venture Into Puberty Required Some Voice-Over Work

During filming for the final scenes of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, 12-year-old Radcliffe's voice started to crack, which caused continuity issues. To solve the problem, producers hired a different 13-year-old voice actor to provide a voice-over for Radcliffe's final few lines.

The young actor, Joe Sowerbutts, was a big fan of the Harry Potter novels prior to filming. He said in 2001:

I couldn't believe it when they told me I was going to be in the film. I was really surprised that Daniel's voice broke because he's younger than me. But you could say it was a lucky break for me.

Although not well known, Sowerbutts is still a working actor.

He Saved His Harry Potter Money

Radcliffe revealed that he hasn't spent any of his earnings from all eight Harry Potter films. It is estimated that he's made 74 million pounds from the franchise alone, which translates in the US to more than $100 million as of January 2021.

Radcliffe explained to the Belfast Telegraph that he never used his savings throughout the years because he didn't have to:

I’m very grateful for it, because having money means you don’t have to worry about it, which is a very lovely freedom to have. It also gives me immense freedom, career-wise... For all the people who’ve followed my career, I want to give them something to be interested in, rather than them just watch me make loads of money on crap films for the rest of my life.

    He Purposefully Ruined Paparazzi Photos

Radcliffe has a funny way of getting back at unwanted paparazzi: He purposefully makes the photos as boring as possible.

In 2007, while acting on Broadway in the play Equus, Radcliffe made sure he wore the same outfit each night he left the theater. So the paparazzi essentially took the same picture of him every night.

    Radcliffe told Jay Leno:

I would wear the same jacket and zip it up so they couldn't see what I was wearing underneath, and the same hat. They became unpublishable, which was hilarious, because there’s nothing better than seeing the paparazzi get really frustrated.

His Parents Originally Didn't Want Him To Play Harry Potter

Although it is hard to imagine anyone else playing the role of Harry Potter, Radcliffe revealed in 2011 that his parents were close to not even allowing him to audition. The actor told The Hollywood Reporter that, at the time, he was told he'd be required to make six films in Los Angeles, and his parents said, "That’s too much disruption to his life. That’s not gonna happen."

A few months later, when the contract was changed to two movies filmed in England, his parents let him audition.
