Beginning in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and carrying through to the end of the Deathly Hallows, Dumbledore's Army formed on the big screen to combat Lord Voldemort and his agents of the Dark Arts. Founded by Harry, Hermione, and Ron, they are a force for good in the Wizarding World. However, that doesn't mean they don't have some grim moments. Fans online have spotted some truly dark details about Dumbledore's Army. For example, when Harry and Ron destroy Slytherin's Locket in Deathly Hallows - Part 1, Harry invokes the name of Satan to force the locket to open. The Weasleys play a pivotal role in the Army. Sometimes these dark moments are emotional. In Order of the Phoenix, you can see Ginny's heartbreak when she hears that Harry is excited about Cho's crush on him.

Ginny's Possession In 'Chamber Of Secrets' Ultimately Leads To Voldemort's Downfall

    From Redditor u/Dredge_admiral_abyss:

By giving Ginny the diary, Lucius (accidentally) started the chain of events that led to:

    1.A horcrux being destroyed

    2. Giving Dumbledore proof that Voldemort has horcruxes.

    3. Getting the basilisk killed, which means no more opening the chamber (which is something that I bet Voldemort would have wanted to do in book 6 to spread terror now that he's officially back).

    4. By getting the basilisk killed, it's fangs are now free to collect, which also got the cup destroyed, on top of the diary.

    5. The sword of gryffindor imbued with basilisk venom, which destroyed 3 horcruxes.

So all in all, Malfoy indirectly helped destroy 5/7 horcruxes.

Add in the failure to get the prophecy, Lucius may have actually accidentally helped the good guys more than his own master.

Like, he's an evil guy who keeps doing terrible things, yet is accidentally helping destroy Voldemort. 10/10 death eater. Voldy really should've immediately killed Lucius when he found out that the diary was destroyed.

    Lesson learned:

Next time don't give one of your followers a literal piece of your soul. And don't trust the Malfoys.

Harry Didn't Initiated A Hug With Anyone Until He Was 16 Years Old

    From Redditor u/The_Clockwork_Monk:

Sad thought: as far as we know, Harry never once in his life initiated a hug with anyone until age 16.

I did a word-search in all the books, while Harry gets hugged a lot (mostly from Mrs. Weasley and Hermione), the text almost never describes him being the one who initiates it.

In fact, for the first half of the series, the text is explicit that he's almost always extremely uncomfortable with physical affection. Towards the middle, he starts passively accepting it, but he doesn't initiate a hug until Half-Blood Prince, and since it's unlikely he ever tried to hug the Dursleys and had no friends before Hogwarts, it's likely that's his first time every doing it.

There's only three times when the text says he initiates a hug:

He hugs Ginny after they win the first Quidditch match in HBP

He hugs Mrs. Weasley when she gives him her brother's watch for his 17th birthday

He hugs Ron after they destroy the locket

The story doesn't really explicitly linger on Harry's past of abuse, but even if this wasn't intentional it's easy to read this as Harry only having negative, painful experience with other people touching him, which is another sad layer on the whole story.

Ginny Was Also Affected By The Dementors On The Train In 'Prisoner Of Azkaban'

    From Redditor u/RobbieNewton:

We know that a Dementor does a security check (that's how I interpreted it at least) on the Hogwarts Express, implied to be as it passes the grounds threshold towards Hogsmeade. We all know how Harry is affected, how either he flashes back, or the Horcrux resonates to Voldemort's attack.

But Ginny, Ginny is overlooked. Ginny is shaking in the corner, affected almost as much as Harry and it just clicked why. She is likely flashing back, being forced to relieve when she was possessed by Tom Riddle's Diary, forced to relive killing the roosters. Forced to relive what happened to Mrs Norris (Ginny is fond of cats) and everyone else.

Hermione's Torture Happened On-The-Fly In 'Deathly Hallows - Part 1'

    From Redditor u/Tokyono:

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, the torture scene was improvised by Emma Watson and Helena Bonham Carter. They came up with the idea where Bellatrix carves “Mudblood” onto Hermione’s arm. They spent 40 minutes designing Bellatrix’s handwriting.

Ginny Has To Wear Hand-Me-Downs In 'Order Of The Phoenix'

    From Redditor u/MariaRehan:

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Dumbledore's Army: All the girls are wearing skirts except Ginny (3rd from left) who is wearing pants; probably a hand-me-down from her brothers. (Good going costume department)
