Animation ManiaLists about films and TV shows told by the visuals-intensive medium that allows storytellers to weave fantastical legends told by unforgettable characters.
Thinking about our favorite nostalgic cartoons always brings up fond memories. The childish silliness of Rugrats. The always entertaining duo of Phineas and Ferb. Epic action and heroics in Avatar: The Last Airbender. But while these shows always put a smile on our faces, they also have some dark details that perhaps we'd rather forget. For example, in an episode of Rugrats Tommy Pickles recalls being born premature and spending his first days in a "fish tank or something." In Danny Phantom, no one really seems to take issue with the fact that the Fentons have a full torture chamber in their basement, which is more than a little eerie. Even Hey Arnold! packs in some existential dread when the eponymous leading kid needs to take a long, hard look at his life.
