    Shaggy Is A Pothead

    From Redditor u/reine212:

Obviously because it’s geared towards kids they wouldn’t say he’s a stoner or show him smoking anything but do u think the writers made him the way he does to imply that he’s just gettin high all day. what if Scooby can talk to him bc Shaggy’s so fried and he’s imagining it.

    Shaggy Is A Clueless Wizard

    From Tumblr user Eternal Phantom:

This initially started as a joke on my part, later dubbed Crack Theory A. It was a commentary about how Shaggy would do things like levitate or pull things out of no where. Normally not even worth mention in a cartoon. Except he and Scooby are the only ones that do this.

But the more I watched, the more it seemed like less of a joke. Things like Shaggy painting a doorway and having it turn real, or the way the two inflated themselves in ‘The Beasts Awake at the Bottomless Lake’ seemed to take it a bit further.

The first overtly supernatural occurrence in Scooby-Doo as a whole was Shaggy unwitting casting a spell and it’s reverse in 'Highrise Hairraiser’ Actual supernaturals can out of the woodwork to show themselves to him, but almost never the rest of the gang. He even got a job in a monster’s only school.

It’s not just the old stuff too. Newer movies still have him being the only one to see supernatural stuff (Samurai Sword) or know it was real (Kiss Rock and Roll Mystery). He also did things like not needing to inhale for 3 hours and lots of acrobatic stunts that shouldn’t have been possible (Legend of the Phantosaur)

The kicker was ‘Scooby-Doo and the Goblin King,’ in which you have a magical character who seems to expect Shaggy to already be familiar with magic and flat out calls him a wizard (once clearly and once inferred).

Red Shirt Shaggy Is Stuck In An Alternate Dimension

    From Redditor u/ToastJustToast:

I’ve been a massive Scooby-Doo fan for as long as I remember. Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Bros is my favourite movie of all time. My Dad stole it from the hospital for me when I was ill when I was young. Recently my friend brought up the theory “Red Shirt Shaggy” is stuck in Cyber Chase because he only ever seems to encounter real ghosts. Which bugs the hell out of me because it’s true!! But the Boo Brothers have to be real they’re so nice!

    Shaggy Was In The Military

    From Redditor u/cakebatter:

I would say that it would have been reasonable that Shaggy could have been drafted. The cartoon started in the late '60s and the Mystery gang are probably in their early 20s, so within the age for the draft. Shaggy is also athletic (noted as the best gymnast in high school and he also ran track), so it's possible he served for a little while.

Shaggy And Fred Are Draft Dodgers

    From Redditor u/bigelow6698:

Scooby-Doo is supposed to take place sometime in the late 1960's, when the Vietnam War was going on. The entire gang looks like they are probably young adults. If Shaggy and Fred are between the ages of 18 and 25, they would be eligible for the draft.

The Scooby Snacks Shaggy Eats Contain Anti-Depressants

    From Redditor u/IronedSandwich:

Quick note: depressants aren't drugs which give you a negative outlook on life necessarily, more drugs which calm you down.

So, in Scooby-Doo, Scooby and Shaggy love to eat Scooby Snacks. They make sacrifices for it (mostly facing their fears) and have huge amounts of energy building up to it. They also sometimes need more than one each. Also, the police haven't cracked down on it because A: Scooby-Doo is set in a financial depression and B: it's not normally for human consumption.

I'm saying they've become dependent on them to keep themselves from becoming fidgety and overly energetic (shaking!).
