The first time I ever got really frustrated with [my partner], I was terrified to tell him because with all my exes (especially the most recent one), anytime I expressed my feelings it always turned into a huge, giant, knock down drag out fight... Somehow I always ended up being the one apologizing, even though my ex did something that I felt was incredibly hurtful and I wasn't looking forward to that again.
When I expressed my frustration with my S.O., he was very calm and just said, "I love you very much, and while it wasn't my intention to make you upset, that doesn't mean my actions didn't do that anyway. Can you tell me more about what happened?"
It was literally a 10-minute discussion and he was so respectful, while also holding me accountable for making sure I approached him with my frustrations maturely and treated him as an equal partner. It was really sweet and that's how it's been ever since.

If you are able to talk to me in person (as in you go to the same school/church/places I go to), then actually talk to me in person first.
If you aren't, or even if you're too shy or nervous to, DON'T TRY TO FLIRT OR HIT ON ME THROUGH INSTAGRAM DMS OR SNAPCHAT. Get my number and text me. Or call me. Seriously the amount of respect I have for a guy goes up so much when he actually texts or calls me and tries to start an actual conversation instead of DMing me on Instagram and saying, "Hey, what's your Snapchat?"
I don't want a friendship/relationship to primarily be formed through social media...

Don’t act differently to impress me. Don’t just say “cool” to what I say, ask questions... if you can’t be actually interested in me, why are you trying to get with me? Also, if you just say, “Would you like to maybe get coffee with me sometime?” and I like you the answer will be yes - it’s that easy!

Say something straightforward. "Hey, can I buy you a coffee?" or "Want to go to a movie?" or "I'm going to a LAN party, want to come?"
Leave the fancy pickup lines in the pickup bars.
