Dead Social Media Platforms You Wish Were Still Around

While failed social media platforms tanked for a reason, the reverse is also true. They once had an appeal that made them popular, so there are naturally some defunct social media sites people miss. Even dead sites that have been successfully replaced by newer, more innovative platforms still retain some nostalgic appeal.

The internet moves fast, so it's common for beloved platforms to get usurped. Vine was doomed to failure when YouTube became the go-to video sharing site. Friendster was a pre-Facebook and MySpace social network that was revolutionary at the time, but faded as similar sites rose. When it comes to failed social media sites, basic party rules apply. To avoid missing out, you join in on the fun by downloading the app. But no one wants to be that socially awkward guest who leaves last, so you drop off when your friends do.
