While promoting the release of his film Dune, acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve was asked what he thought about Marvel films and he said they can feel a bit samey. So naturally the internet has lost all perspective over this fairly mild criticism. So now MCU fans think this is a shameless attempt by Villeneuve to get more attention for his movie (how getting MCU fans mad at him helps promote his movie is beyond us) while others are defending the director saying he makes a good point. Either way, the internet outrage cycle spins on.
Denis Villeneuve says “there are too many Marvel movies that are nothing more than a cut and paste of others.”
An aggregated and translated Spanish headline making it look like Denis Villeneuve is shitting on Marvel while any nuance/context surrounding that quote within the article is hidden behind a paywall. What could possibly go wrong? https://t.co/bI6BCziVmQ
The year is 2050. Every job application requires you to disclose your opinions on the mcu. You cannot study film without writing a thinkpiece on the mcu. government officials must share where they stand in the subject of the mcu. https://t.co/x1SqRggs41
Just so tired of the cycle where journalists ask big ticket filmmakers leading questions about the MCU for clicks, triggering an avalanche of MCU stans to trend attacking that person. This will now be a recurring talking point in DUNE press, and they will attack again. I’m tired. pic.twitter.com/eq8RZlNAhB
