APRIL debuted on August 24, 2015, with a line-up of six members: Somin, Chaewon, Hyunjoo, Naeun, Yena, and Jinsol. During the group's active years, they had a change in line-up following Somin and Hyunjoo's departures. They were replaced with Chaekyung and Rachel. In 2021, the group faced backlash as Hyunjoo and her family claimed she was bullied by the other members.
