There's a lot of Disney cartoons on Disney Plus. From old school classics to newer fare, there's plenty to keep kids and adults of all ages entertained for hours. But did you know that there's a lot of Disney cartoons based on movies? That's right, a lot of your favorite childhood flicks — including The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, and Lilo & Stitch — have their very own spinoff shows. Some are more well-known than others, but for the first time, you can stream them all in one place on Disney Plus.
TV series based off movies you already love are great for when you feel like watching something new, but would prefer not to be introduced to a sea of unfamiliar characters and settings. It's a chance to see your fave characters in new situations that aren't explored in the original movie. While many of the shows on this list are animated, both High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and The Mandalorian are live-action spinoff series you can watch.
Check out this collection of live-action shows and Disney cartoons based on movies on Disney Plus. Vote up the series that are nearest and dearest to your heart!
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983)
Lets face it. There have been a ton of Star Wars TV spinoffs, from The Clone Wars to Star Wars Rebels. But Disney+'s The Mandalorian goes above and beyond. Set five years after Return of the Jedi, the series stars Pedro Pascal as Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin. As he travels the galaxy, he finds a small green creature that is of the same species as Yoda, referred to by other bounty hunters as "The Child". Bug-eyed and adorable, The Child (also known as Baby Yoda) became the breakout star of The Mandalorian. Impeccably shot, well-acted, and elevated by superior visual effects, The Mandalorian satisfies the most dedicated Star Wars fans while encouraging newcomers to join in the action.

High School Musical (2006)
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series brings East High's Wildcats to a whole new generation of viewers. The show takes place a significant amount of time after the thunderously successful 2006 Disney Channel Original Movie, following the high school's drama club as they prepare for their first ever staging of "High School Musical: The Musical". Featuring a whole new cast of young drama club hopefuls, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series explores the same types of friendship dynamics and romances as the original. But at the same time, it adds a modern twist that makes the series feel distinctly modern. No more flip phones!

Toy Story 4 (2019)
It's pretty obvious that Forky is the best thing to come out of Toy Story 4. So naturally, Disney+ decided to give him his own show! On Forky Asks a Question, the inquisitive Forky (Tony Hale) has his friends explain different concepts to him. After all, he's just a homemade toy fashioned out of a plastic eating utensil — where else was he supposed to learn this stuff? Hamm (John Ratzenberger) teaches Forky about money, Rex (Wallace Shawn) uses dinosaurs to teach him about time, and Trixie (Kristen Schaal) shows him how a computer works. Kids watching at home will learn right alongside Forky as he gets the scoop from his pals.

If you're someone who would pick Tangled over Frozen anyday, then you should check out Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure. While the animation style differs from the original movie (it's hand-drawn rather than computer-generated), the show sees Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi return as Rapunzel and Eugene (formerly known as Flynn Rider). Six months after her escape from Mother Gothel's tower, Rapunzel finally adjusts to her new life with her birth parents, the King and Queen of Corona. She and her handmaiden Cassandra (Eden Espinosa) stumble upon a crop of spiky black rocks that restore her hair back to its original blonde locks. Phew! We loved her choppy brunette bob, but Rapunzel just wasn't the same without 70 feet of hair.
