List Rules
Vote up the best shows from 1990-2009 that you can now watch on Disney+

It's hard to believe the 1990s were three decades ago. Jeez, how time flies! Along with the signature fashion, music, and haircuts of the 90s and 2000s, TV had its own thing going on as well. For Disney Channel, the late 90s and early 2000s were something of a golden age of television series. Disney Channel sitcoms 2000 and onward were the bomb. Remember when you could turn on your TV and watch That's So RavenLizzie McGuire, and Even Stevens one after the other? Those were the days.

But mid-2000s Disney sitcoms were amazing too — Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, for instance. A few shows on this list originally aired on ABC, but are still featured on Disney+. As television continues to move forward, sometimes it can be fun to revisit old favorites. After all, we're older and wiser now. Who knows what lessons we can learn from these nostalgic sitcoms?

This list has all the Disney sitcoms 90s and later available for streaming on Disney+. Read on to learn more about each show, and vote up the ones you plan on rewatching first. Let the trip down memory lane begin!

This beloved sitcom follows the life and times of Cory Matthews (Ben Savage), starting with his middle school years and following him all the way through to college. He's joined by his best friend Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong) and love interest Topanga (Danielle Fishel), who grow up with him over the course of seven seasons. First premiering in 1994, Boy Meets World gives you all those 90's vibes, from the hairstyles to the fashion to their catchphrases. Although targeted towards younger viewers, this show tackles sensitive issues like child abuse, sexual abuse, and underage drinking. Because of this, Boy Meets World has a maturity that's well beyond its years. It's an all-encapsulating snapshot of family life in the 90's that would be eventually be revived with the spinoff Girl Meets World in 2014.

  • Lizzie McGuire

Hey now, hey now! Lizzie McGuire was essential in shaping the lives of young girls in the early 2000's. At 13 years old, Lizzie (Hilary Duff) faces all the typical obstacles one finds in middle school. She and her two best friends Miranda (Lalaine) and Gordo (Adam Lamberg) face peer pressure, classmate rivalry, and crushes over the next few years. Lizzie, who is often shy and clumsy, has an animated persona who better expresses her inner emotions to the audience. In 2003, the series spawned its own feature film The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which follows Lizzie and her pals as they study abroad in Rome, Italy. It also looks like an updated Lizzie McGuire reboot is in the cards for Disney+.

    • Actors: Hilary Duff, Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, Lalaine, Adam Lamberg

  • The Suite Life of Zack & Cody

The Suite Life of Zack and Cody honestly made living in a hotel look like the most fun thing ever. Dylan and Cole Sprouse star as the preteen Zack and Cody, a pair of twins who live with their mom in Boston's Tipton Hotel. The show follows their daily antics as they get under the hotel manager Mr. Moseby (Phill Lewis)'s skin. Sometimes, they team up with ritzy, ditzy London Tipton (Brenda Song) and down-to-earth candy counter girl Maddie Fitzpatrick (Ashley Tisdale). There's never a dull moment at the Tipton, and it's all thanks to Zack and Cody. The show resulted in a spinoff series The Suite Life on Deck, which followed the boys as they attended highschool aboard a cruise ship.

    • Actors: Ashley Tisdale, Dylan Sprouse, Cole Sprouse, Phill Lewis, Brenda Song

    Recess
    Photo: Recess / Disney Channel

With an old school 2D animation style and peak 90's aesthetics, Recess is the kind of stuff nostalgic cartoons are made of. The show is centered around six radically different fourth graders, who form a mismatched Breakfast Club-esque friend group who meets up every recess. There's the jock, the tough girl, the brain... you know the rest. Each episode, they go through the motions at Third Street Elementary School in Arkansas. They're ruled by a monarch-like 6th grader named King Bob, who gives them a list of social conformities to follow. But recess is a time of freedom, where the kids can express their individuality outside of their perceived stereotypes. Pretty deep stuff for a kids' cartoon.
