Long, long ago, in a time when gaming technology was too limited to allow for unbridled price-gouging of the consumer, companies had to hunker down and release full products for one flat price. This meant games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man came out on release day with all the content they would ever have, sporting no additional charges down the line. This era is often referred to as "the good old days."
Now, however, we live in a day and age where companies can release a game like Star Wars: Battlefront, where for sixty dollars you can get forty-percent of the game's content at launch, then wait another year and pay fifty more dollars for the other sixty percent in DLC (downloadable content) purchases. Thanks to the Internet, however, even the dark nature of the gaming industry's corporate greed can be turned into a light-hearted, smile-inducing meme.
