Doctors Reveal Warning Signs You Shouldn't Overlook

Not every self-proclaimed doctor on Reddit is a licensed medical professional. Some who claim to be doctors do occasionally have good advice, though. In fact, they have revealed warning signs that most average Joes and Janes tend to overlook.

Perhaps you noticed your paunch got a little bigger, but chalked it up to those extra pints of Ben and Jerry's. However, did you consider that the unexplained abdominal weight could be a sign of liver failure? We're not making any unverifiable claims here, but if you notice even the smallest of questionable body functions, it's best to seek medical help from your local clinic.

  • Frequent Urination

    From Redditor /u/mironp:

    Frequent urination.

The amount of liquid you get rid of is actually a pretty big deal.

  • Persistent Bloating

    From Redditor /u/ChickenWING84:

UK-based doctor. I think that most people these days are pretty savvy, and often when anything changes, [they] usually tend to come and ask about it. It's often the much older patients who ignore things and put off seeking help at times.

I guess in general... older women (over 50-60s) with abdominal bloating. If this is new and persistent, some women assume that this is just constipation or just putting on weight with age, but sometimes this can be a symptom of ovarian cancer.

  • Unexplained Moles

    From Redditor /u/vosszaa:

    Moles and skin changes

In Australia, the ratio of people who diagnosed with skin cancer is about 60:100,000.

  • Poo That Is Strangely Colored

    From Redditor /u/m000se:

I am a doctor. Late to the party, so this will be buried, but here's a (non-exhaustive) list of common things that people ignore, and really shouldn't:

    black poo

    white poo

    red in your poo

  • Newborns Who Don't Urinate

    From Redditor /u/Bristol...:

A newborn that hasn't peed in one day is in trouble and needs to be seen immediately.

  • Chest Pain

    From Redditor /u/Pink_Banana:

Chest pain. Especially if it radiates to the left arm/jaw. Big sign of a heart attack. DO NOT IGNORE.
