Here’s a look at the best current television dramas that have aired or are currently airing new episodes in 2019. Not only are there lots of new drama TV shows premiering in 2019 but many favorite drama series are returning. They all bring the feels, but what are the best new and returning drama TV shows in 2019?

As a television genre, drama is all-encompassing. There are heavy dramatic fantasies like Game of Thrones or action dramas such as The Walking Dead and Outlander. Other dramas are more about tension and emotion, such as Riverdale, The Handmaid's Tale, and True Detective. Some 2019 dramas like Supernatural have been going on for over a decade and show no signs of stopping, while others are new drama shows (The Passage) or airing their last season in 2019 (Mr. Robot).
