Born out of the reggae movement of the 1960s, dub is a subgenre of reggae that primarily delves into instrumental remixes of those original reggae tracks. The best dub artists remix and make the original songs theirs, literally. Many of the songs the best dub artists add reverb and other features to the songs, and in some cases, the remixed songs are more popular than the originals. Famous dub artists have built an almost legendary persona that exceeds their musical output and remain as important to reggae music as any artist.
