DVD (And Blu-Ray) Details That Really Bring Us Back

When DVDs first entered the marketplace, they had relatively simple menus, but it didn't take long for the format to advance in interesting ways. The people behind those DVDs began creating fun and interesting hidden secrets, which a person could find by clicking their remote in directions where nothing apparent existed. These hidden gems were soon dubbed “Easter Eggs,” and by the 2010s, many DVDs had them.

Then the format switched up a bit, and Blu-Ray took over. While it was necessary to get new hardware, the same type of menus remained, and many Blu-Rays featured similar Easter Eggs. Of course, not every DVD and Blu-Ray disk features a traditional Easter Egg. There are plenty that incorporates references to the film or even the other works of the same director, as well as interesting details. Whatever the hidden detail was, it was bound to find its way onto the Internet, sooner or later.

This list features the best DVD and Blu-Ray details that people have posted to the Movie Details subreddit. Take a look at them down below, and if you find one you discovered yourself that really takes you back, don't forget to give it an upvote to see which detail rises to the top!

The Ring (2002). Easter Egg in the DVD menu. If you click up until your cursor is no longer visible, and then hit enter, your remote is temporarily disabled and the “cursed” video will play. When it concludes, you only regain control of the remote after a phone rings twice.
