Avatar: The Last AirbenderLooking closer at the animated series that follows Avatar Aang, the only person who can use all four bending arts: earthbending, waterbending, airbending, and firebending.
Avatar: The Last Airbender has had a recent renaissance, giving old fans the opportunity to say TOLD YOU SO to new fans who are equally as enraptured over the compelling characters, well-written plot, and perfect moments of comedy. However, as much as ATLA is known for its comedy and lighthearted moments, it's also known for its deeply emotional moments, both of joy and of sadness. These moments are what really make the story as perfect as it is, and cannot be forgotten.
Below, Reddit fans have gathered which scenes they think are emotional AF. Vote up your favorites!
Zuko apologizing to Iroh in 'Sozin's Comet.' He goes into his uncle's tent and patiently waits all night for him to wake up. And after everything Zuko had done, Iroh still forgave him immediately.
This is one of Toph's truly vulnerable moments. She can't really fight the sandbenders and even if she could, her friends, who at this point are her only family, would die if she let go of the library. That shot of her as she says, "Sorry Appa," and how she can't even vocalize what happened when Aang asks, gets me every time. She's even covering her ears, which is as close to blocking the world out as she can get.
Zuko finds out about his relation to both Sozin and Roku. At the end of the same episode, Toph says, "Do you really think friendships an last more than one lifetime?" and Aang responds, "I don't see why not."
I feel most emotional watching Aang see Monk Gyatso's corpse and come to the realization that he's truly the last Airbender. [Then he loses control]. It's so real and chilling.
