A list of the best Minnesota Vikings of all time. Formed in 1961, the Minnesota Vikings have been one of the NFL&#39;s hard luck franchises. The team has had a lot of success, making the Super Bowl in 1969 along with 25 playoff berths since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. But despite that and three more Super Bowl appearances, the Vikings have yet to win a Super Bowl championship. That isn&#39;t due to the lack of great players. The Vikings have had a number of superstars wear the purple and gold. For years, the Purple People Eaters, the nickname for the Vikings defensive line, were one of the most intimidating in the league. The <a href="http://www.ranker.com/list/minnesota-vikings-hall-of-famers/ranker-sports" target="_blank">Vikings had several Hall of Famers</a> suit up for them during their Super Bowl years like Fran Tarkenton, Alan Page and Ron Yary. These players are considered some of the <a class="edS-cl" href="https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/best-football-players-ever?ref=internalCrossLinking_keyword">best football players of all time</a>.

The Vikings have drafted well over the years. They&#39;ve drafted two of the best players ever in Randy Moss and 2012 NFL MVP Adrian Peterson. In 1990, the team successfully claimed Cris Carter off waivers. Carter was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013 and is one of the best wide receivers in football history.

Chase Ford

Chase Ford is an American football tight end for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. He was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He played college football at Miami.

Ray Poage

Raymond Coy Poage Jr. (November 14, 1940 – September 23, 1997) was an American football tight end in the National Football League.  
He was drafted  out of the University of Texas by the Vikings in the 1963 NFL Draft.
Poage played portions of eight seasons in the NFL, peaking in 1964 and 1965 with over 1,000 yards off 68 receptions for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Billy Martin

Jake William "Billy" Martin (October 27, 1942 – March 14, 2018) was an American football tight end in the National Football League for the Chicago Bears, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Minnesota Vikings.  He played college football at Georgia Tech and was drafted in the second round (twenty-first overall selection) of the 1964 NFL Draft. Martin was subsequently selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1966 NFL Expansion Draft.
Martin played high school football at Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Georgia.
He was a teammate of Billy Lothridge both at Gainesville High and Georgia Tech.
Martin died in Cumming, Georgia on March 14, 2018 he was 75.

Johnny McWilliams

Johnny McWilliams (born December 14, 1972 in Pomona, California) is a former American football tight end.

Blake Bell

Blake M. Bell is an American football tight end for the Oklahoma Sooners.

John Carlson

John David Carlson, Jr. (born May 12, 1984) is a former American football tight end. He was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft, and later played for the Minnesota Vikings and the Arizona Cardinals. He played college football at Notre Dame.

John Davis

John Leonard Davis (born May 14, 1973) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears. He also was a member of the Amsterdam Admirals in the World League of American Football. He played college football at Emporia State University.

Sean Berton

Sean Berton (born October 31, 1979) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League.  He was undrafted in the 2003 NFL Draft out of North Carolina State University.  The Minnesota Vikings signed him to a 3-year minimum rookie contract in 2003, but he was released on September 3, 2005.  The New York Giants claimed him off of waivers where he finished out his rookie contract before being released on May 23, 2006.

Carl Hilton

Carl Patrick Hilton (born February 8, 1964) is a retired professional American football player who played tight end for four seasons for the Minnesota Vikings.

Kent Kramer

Kent Devlin Kramer (born July 21, 1944) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League for the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings, and the Philadelphia Eagles.  He attended and played college football at the University of Minnesota.
Kramer attended Temple City High School in Temple City, California where he played varsity football for three years and was an All-CIF pick in 1961 for the undefeated Rams.

Allen Reisner

Allen Reisner is an American football tight end in the National Football League who currently plays for the Baltimore Ravens. He played college football at Iowa.

Carlester Crumpler

Carlester T. Crumpler is a former American football tight end.  He played for the Seattle Seahawks (1994–1998) and the Minnesota Vikings (1999) of the National Football League (NFL).  He is the son of former Buffalo Bills player Carlester Crumpler, the older brother of former Pro Bowl tight end Alge Crumpler, and brother of musician Bryan Crumpler.
Crumpler graduated from Junius H. Rose High School. He received a B.A. in finance and an MBA from East Carolina University, where he also played college football.

Richard Angulo

Richard Angulo (born August 13, 1980) is a former American football tight end and the current tight end coach for the Baltimore Ravens. He was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played college football at Western New Mexico.
Angulo was also a member of the Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears.

David Frisch

David Joseph Frisch, Jr. (born June 22, 1970) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League.
Frisch was born to David and Janet (Wecker) Frisch.  He attended Northwest High School in House Springs, Missouri.  After high school, he played college football at Iowa Central Community College, the University of Missouri and Colorado State University.
He played with the Cincinnati Bengals as a tight-end from 1993 to 1995.  Frisch was with the New England Patriots for a year in 1995 and then played with the Minnesota Vikings.  He ended his career after a few years with the Washington Redskins.
Frisch is a descendant of Rev. Martin Boehm and Lt. John Gibbs.

Derek Tennell

Derek Wayne Tennell (born February 12, 1964 in Los Angeles, California) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League for the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys, and Minnesota Vikings. He played college football at UCLA.
