Vince McMahon's professional football league is coming back with eight new XFL teams ready to hit the gridiron for the 2020 season. While the first time around, WWE's foray into the world of football was a flop, lasting only one season, McMahon thought the time was right to go back to the well.
The league will feature teams in eight locations across the country, including cities like Dallas, Seattle, and St. Louis, as well as Los Angeles and New York, which are always ready to welcome a new sports franchise into the world. Teams in the XFL will me made up of players from the college ranks, the Canadian Football League, and a number of ex-NFL players, such as Sammie Coates, Connor Cook, and Christine Michael. Salaries won't match those of their NFL counterparts, with starting quarterbacks making $495,000 a season, but expect the salary to go up if the league is successful.
Now, the schedule is set, the players are ready, and the XFL will launch its second run of games right after the 2020 Super Bowl, with a 10-week schedule that commences Feb. 8, 2020.
