A royal moving to New York City sounds like the plot of a comedy film, but it's the true story of Princess Beatrice of York - and she has serious intentions. Beatrice is pursuing her own career in the United States and does charity work, doing it all with some celebrity pals and famous entrepreneurs by her side. Since her move to the Big Apple in 2015, she's landed a prestigious consulting job, rubbed elbows with the likes of Karlie Kloss and Ellie Goulding. In 2019 she got engaged.

While she still participates in events with other members of the British Royal Family, public appearances are no longer Beatrice's full-time job. Like her mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, Princess Beatrice is certainly blazing her own trail.

Princess Beatrice attended the 2018 Met Gala in a flowy purple dress with jeweled hair accessories. While she turned heads at Prince William and Kate Middleton's 2011 wedding with her infamously large hat, Beatrice kept her appearance simple and minimal at the New York event.

Beatrice is not the first royal to attend the Met Gala - Princess Diana attended in 1995, as have royals from Monaco, Jordan, and Germany. Still, it's uncommon and proves just how different Beatrice is when compared with her royal predecessors.

She's Friends With Stars Like Karlie Kloss And Ellie Goulding

Princess Beatrice has made a number of celebrity friends. She appears to be particularly close with model Karlie Kloss. Bea even gave Kloss a shoutout on her Twitter to help promote the model's Kode with Klossy program, which teaches girls how to code. Kloss FaceTimed with Princess Bea to announce her engagement to Joshua Kushner, brother of White House senior adviser Jared Kushner.

Princess Bea also took a trip to the Wadi Rum desert with Kloss, Joshua Kushner, Ellie Goulding, and Goulding's boyfriend Caspar Jopling.

Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi is a 34-year-old investor who owns millions of dollars in property. The pair have known each other for some time - Mozzi's stepfather, Chrisopher Shale, was a close friend of Beatrice's parents. However, Beatrice dated Uber executive Dave Clark for 10 years before the couple split in 2016.

Beatrice and Mozzi share the same circles of friends and have met each other's families. On September 26, 2019, Mozzi announced the couple's engagement in an Instagram post that reads, "You will never be alone my love, my heart is your home. Hand in hand, today, tomorrow and forever."

The official announcement from Buckingham Palace reads, "Her royal highness and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi became engaged while away for the weekend in Italy earlier this month. The wedding will take place in 2020."

She Does Charity Work

In addition to working as a consultant and attending royal events, Princess Bea contributes to multiple charitable organizations. Because she is dyslexic, a lot of her work revolves around helping children with the same learning disability. Bea is also a global embassador for Street Child, a charity founded by her mother to help educate women and children in developing countries. She and her sister Princess Eugenie are patrons of the Teenage Cancer Trust, which supports teens suffering from cancer.

Beatrice has been involved in several athletic events to raise money for a wide range of charities. For instance, she was the first royal to complete the London Marathon. The Big Change, a charitable trust cofounded by the princess, hosted an event called the Big Climb, in which Beatrice climbed Mont Blanc alongside the other founders.
