Even stars feel the weight of mental instability and addiction, and several notable actors shocked the world with their suicides. Many of these actors who killed themselves did so after suffering from depression for many years - though some famous actor suicides have been debated as being cover-ups for foul play.

Who are some famous actors who committed suicide? In 2014, Robin Williams committed suicide by hanging at the age of 63. The comedian had struggled with depression throughout much of his adult life. Silent film actor Karl Dane committed suicide by shooting himself in the head on April 14, 1934, at the age of 47. His declining career is believed to have been a factor in his decision to take his own life.

On June 16, 1959, George Reeves died as the result of a gunshot wound to his head. His death was ruled a suicide, but many believe that it may have been an accidental shooting or even murder. Other famous actors who took their own lives include Freddie Prinze, Spalding Gray, and Everett Sloane.
