Fashion consultant Tim Gunn says that he's identified as asexual since the 80s, when he ended a nearly decade long relationship. After he found out that his boyfriend had been sleeping around, Gunn decided to take a long break from intimacy of that magnitude.
Gunn said, "One night he told me he’d been sleeping around. I could hardly breathe from grief, humiliation and despair. Much of my boyfriend’s 'I’m over this' was about sex. I’ve always been kind of asexual. That breakup was a cold shower to last a lifetime."

Comedian Paula Poundstone identifies as asexual. Poundstone says that she simply doesn't enjoy the act, and that she's not super interested in talking about it. It's not just that Poundstone doesn't enjoy the act; she doesn't want the demands of such a lifestyle, either:
"...it’s very messy,” she concedes. “It involves much more work than I’m willing to put out. The idea that I’d go to my room after everything else I go through in a day and that there’d be someone in my room that might expect something like that from me – I just can’t even."

Deerhunter and Atlas Sound front man Bradford Cox has often stated that he is asexual in interviews, even though he has also suggested that part of the reason he opted for the title had to do with his comfort zone.
While speaking with Rolling Stone in 2011 he said: "I don’t hide anything, but I also don’t really highlight anything either. For a long time I just said I was asexual, but now I just realized that… I’m still, I guess… I mean, I’m queer. I just sort of, don’t really have a very big self-esteem, so asexuality is sort of like a comfort zone where you don’t get rejected."
