“Unlike other artists, I do not believe one style fits all. The variousstyles applied to my paintings are dictated by each idea’s own emotionalexpression. My goal is to create art through surrealistic symbolism viasubliminal factors, using color and typographic elements.”

Jerry W. McDaniel was the first CCAD alumnus awarded the Joseph V.Canzani Outstanding Alumni Award in 1971.

McDaniel started his art career in New York City where he opened hisillustration and graphic design studio in 1961. He graduated from ColumbusCollege of Art and Design, in Columbus, Ohio, and studied with Angelo Savelli andHenry Pearson at the New York School for Social Research. In 1971 he was afounding member and became Chair of the Advertising Design Department at theFashion Institute of Technology/SUNY. He moved to Los Angeles in 2005, andmaintains studios in Montparnasse, Paris, France; Los Angeles, California; andPalm Springs, California.

McDaniel’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, andis included in many public and private collections, including The MetropolitanMuseum, The Smithsonian, The Museum of American Illustrators, and The US AirForce Art Collection.
