Elaine Kontominas Alquist a former Democratic State Senator from California's 13th Senate District. Prior to serving in the Senate, she served in the State Assembly for 6 years. The 13th Senate District is the heart of Silicon Valley in Santa Clara County and includes the cities of San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View and Gilroy. She was in office from December 2004 – December 2012. She succeeded John Vasconcellos who, himself, succeeded Alquist's husband, the late Al Alquist, who represented the district for 30 years. Dana Faletic is an Australian national representative and Olympic rower. She competes in the women's quadruple sculls. She represented at Athens 2004 where she won a bronze medal and at London 2012. In 2003, she was part of the world championship winning women's quadruple sculls team with Kerry Hore, Jane Robinson and Amber Bradley. This team, with Jane Robinson replaced by Rebecca Sattin, won the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympic Games.
