Allan James Monk, (born August 19, 1942) is a Canadian baritone singer. He appeared in the 1982 film adaptation of La Traviata.
Monk was born in Mission, British Columbia, and grew up in Burnaby, British Columbia, where both of his parents were involved in a musical chorus where Monk was first exposed to opera. He moved with his family to Calgary, where he participated in summer programs at the Banff School of Fine Arts. His first principal role was with the San Francisco Opera in 1966. He moved to Teaneck, New Jersey, in the mid-1970s to be able to perform with the Metropolitan Opera.In 1985, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Barbara Fris (born May 10, 1956) is a Canadian soprano and actress who performs as an opera singer, concert artist, and recitalist. She specializes in opera and classical symphonic works for voice, having performed across Canada, in Europe and the United States where she also has sung a wide range of works that include operettas, musical theatre, light classics, lieder, French mélodie, and art songs.
Erin Wall (born 4 November 1975 Calgary, Alberta to American parents) is a Canadian operatic soprano.
She studied at the Vancouver Academy of Music, Western Washington University, Rice University and Music Academy of the West and was a finalist at the Cardiff Singer of the World competition in Wales in 2003, a competition where 951 singers from 56 nations applied and 483 were offered auditions, and in which she sang in the group of five finalists: "... no doubt she was cheered to hear the leading scream of 'Bravoooooo!' Gino Quilico
Gino Quilico O.C. (born April 29, 1955) is a Canadian operatic baritone.Quilico was born in Flushing, New York in 1955, the son of baritone Louis Quilico and pianist Lina Pizzolongo. He studied at the University of Toronto Opera School from 1976 to 1978, making his operatic debut as Mr. Gobineau in Giancarlo Menotti's The Medium. He performed with the Canadian Opera Company in 1977 and 1979.
Quilico continued his studies at the Ecole d'art lyrique of the Paris Opera in 1979-80, then began an international career with performances at the Paris Opera, Covent Garden in London, La Scala in Milan, and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.Quilico was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in ...more
