Daphne Joyce Maynard is an American author known for writing with candor about her life, as well as for her works of fiction and hundreds of essays and newspaper columns, often about parenting and family. The 1998 publication of her memoir, At Home in the World, made her the object of intense criticism among some members of the literary world for having revealed the story of the relationship she had with author J. John Sullivan Wells was a United States Senator from New Hampshire. Born in Durham, he attended Pembroke Academy, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1828 and practiced in Guildhall, Vermont from 1828 to 1835. He moved to Lancaster, New Hampshire in 1836 and continued the practice of law until 1846. He was solicitor of Coos County from 1838 to 1847, and moved to Exeter, New Hampshire and resumed the practice of law. Wells was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 1839 to 1841, serving as speaker in 1841. Samuel Babson "Sam" Fuld is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball. Despite being diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 10, Fuld began his baseball career by twice batting .600 in high school, during which time Baseball America ranked him 19th in the country. He played college baseball at Stanford. There, he was a two-time All American, set the school record for career runs scored, and established the College World Series record for career hits. Fuld was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2004. He was an All Star two years later in the Florida State League. Samuel Wells

Samuel Wells was an American politician and the 25th Governor of Maine. He was born in Durham, New Hampshire on August 15, 1801. He studied at local school and later studied law. He had a successful career in law. He served as an associate justice of the Maine Supreme Court from 1847 to 1854. Wells became Governor of Maine in 1856. He was unsuccessful in his re-election bid and left office on January 8, 1857. After leaving office, he moved to Boston and practiced law. He died on July 15, 1868.
