It’s official: America’s dad has become the first celebrity to receive a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. Tom Hanks posted on Instagram that he and his wife Rita Wilson, who were in Australia while he filmed a movie, both tested positive. On March 16, actor Idris Elba announced on Twitter that he tested positive for the coronavirus, too.
They are not the only famous people to have been touched by COVID-19, however. Since then, many others have revealed their diagnoses and updated the public on their health. The first recorded case of the virus in humans was in Wuhan, China, in November or December 2019.
Don’t panic. For now, wash your hands, avoid large public gatherings, and check back to see if any of your favorite celebrities have landed on the list.
