All too often, celebrities become the focus of violent attacks. There are a number of famous people who survived being shot, whether they were the targets of asssassination attempts or the victims of unfortunate accidents. Some notable gunshot survivors are actors, while other famous shooting victims are musicians. A few celebrities who have survived gunshots were shot multiple times.

Who will you find on this list of famous gunshot survivors? On March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot in the chest by John Hinckley, Jr. He suffered a collapsed lung, but survived the incident. Hinckley, Jr. was tried, but was found not guilty by reason of insanity. He was released from St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington in 2016. Former President Theodore Roosevelt also survived an assassination attempt.

In 2000, 50 Cent was shot nine times – in his hand, arm, hip, legs, chest, and left cheek – outside of his grandmother's house in New York. He spent 13 days in the hospital recovering from the shooting and went on to become a superstar in the rap game. Other famous gunshot survivors include Lil Wayne, Kelly Preston, and Andy Warhol.

On May 13, 1981, Pope John Paul II was shot in Rome’s St. Peter’s Square. He spent three weeks in the hospital recovering from wounds to his abdomen and left hand. He offered to forgive his would-be assassin, Mehmet Ali Agca, while still in the hospital.
