The singer and dancer had been taken in for emergency surgery the day before, after experiencing sudden abdominal pain. He also had a sore throat, and tested positive for COVID-19 while in the hospital.
“The surgery was successful, and Jimin is currently recuperating after his procedure,” Big Hit Music, BTS’ agency, said in a statement. They also said that Jimin was making a “speedy recovery” from the coronavirus.
Elton John had his appendix removed in 2013. He spoke of the experience with The Daily Mail, saying:
I can barely even remember it now because you go into a sort of delirium, but I just walked off stage halfway through and was taken to hospital where they scanned my stomach and saw what the problem was.
