Alexander Hammid born Alexandr Hackenschmied was a leading photographer, film director, cinematographer and editor in Czechoslovakia. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1938 and became involved in American avant-garde cinema. He is best known known for his film, Crisis, Meshes of the Afternoon and To Be Alive!. He made Meshes of the Afternoon, with his wife Maya Derento whom he was married from 1942 to 1947. Baron Raimund von Stillfried, also known as Baron Raimund von Stillfried-Rathenitz, was an Austrian photographer. He was son of August Wilhelm Freiherr Stillfried von Rathenitz and Maria Anna Johanna Theresia Walburge Gräfin Clam-Martinitz. After leaving his military career, Stillfried moved to Yokohama, Japan and opened a photographic studio called Stillfried & Co. which operated until 1875. In 1875, Stillfried formed a partnership with Hermann Andersen and the studio was renamed, Stillfried & Andersen. This studio operated until 1885.
