Amalia Fleming, Lady Fleming was a Greek physician, activist and politician. Fleming was born in Constantinople in 1912. She moved to Greece and, during the Axis occupation, took part in the National Resistance, for which she was jailed by the Italians. She married Sir Alexander Fleming in 1953, but with his death in March 1955 she was widowed less than two years later. She returned to Greece in 1963 and was arrested by the Greek junta during the period of the dictatorship for acts of sabotage. She was released from prison due to health problems in 1971 but was stripped of her Greek citizenship and exiled. Andre Moses de Rothschild (b. 14 May 1948; d 2 August 1979) was born to Jewish parents in Canada. His mother whose family was originally from Salonika (Thessaloniki in Greece) was born in Sparta, Greece, she is a cousin of Elie Mordechai Faraggi (פרג'י), a Greek national hero killed in 1943 by the Nazis. Rothschild was a physician, humanitarian, and the only son of Abraham Joseph de Rothschild (1929-1984), and Stella Faraggi (1928-1980) and a member of the English Rothschild banking family.
